-Ice's Falcon BMS Helios Profile Updated!
-
Talisker, any chance you can show me what a German keyboard layout looks like?
pikachu, yes, I am, however, shipping the item to you in the USA…. I have no doubt you’ll be better off buying one from your end.
I have my own .key file and while you can use a different .key file, it’ll be hard to provide help. However, so long as a callback is mapped to a key stroke, Helios won’t care if your AFGearUP is G or CTRL+G really. The Falcon interface is “absent” or hidden simply because of it already being added. If you click on Profile Explorer on the upper left, just above the Toolbox, then scroll down all the way, you will see “Interfaces” and it has Keyboard, Profile, and Falcon. Double-click Falcon and you can see the window come up. This way, you can load up the .key file if it is on a different location or if you renamed it.
I do have a few hidden layers but should not concern you as the end user. As you know, there is the left and right consoles, the CMDS program, the airbase charts, and the data card info. On the left console, the ANTI-G test button actually works as the canopy toggle. Aside from that, everything else should work as labelled.

Ice,
You’re right about the screen, but thanks anyways.
Thanks a lot for the info on your profile as well as the work you’ve done with it!
Have you encountered a problem where the screen does this (take a look at pic)

Does it do that when you are in the 3D world? When playing with fullscreen, the Helios stuff gets displaced as BMS “forces” your main display into whatever resolution the 2D screen is. However, things should go back to normal once your main display reverts back to its “normal” resolution in the 3D world.
-
It does it no matter what, when BMS starts in full window mode and Helios started
Pika out -
Yes but does it return to “normal” once you are in the 3D pit?
-
i had a similar issue.
I use MFD extractor to get all the bit to fill helios, but i had to tell BMS to extract at least thing from the main software.
I had it render at 10x10 so it was really small.
This forced windowed mode and got rid of the black screen, but i managed to trick BMS in conjunction with SOFTTH.net to get rid of the top border so it appears fullscreen. -
No, the Helios screen remains divided in the 3d world and in the UI screen.

Puka outSometimes there might be incompatibility between the profile creator’s screens setup (number of screens ,arrangement, resolutions) and the other user’s screens setup.
In this case a monitors reset is required.
To accomplish this:- Load the profile with profile editor.
- In the main menu under profile select reset monitors.
- A new window pops up where you may control some parameters of the reset process.
Not always necessary to modify them, the defaults might work well. - When done click there OK.
- Review the profile with the profile editor and if pleased save it (under new name probably just in case of…)
Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot dcraig1,
I did encounter this problem initially and I solved it by doing a monitor reset. Otherwise the profile does not load.
Anyways, I have concluded that it may be related to my integrated video card. I believe I am asking a lot of it. I’m going to start flying in window mode anyways.
I think I am pushing my luck, I already got my wish to have a separate cockpit with a Helios touch screen.

Sorry Ice forgot about that one.
There is a nice PDF in \Falcon BMS 4.33\Docs\Key Files & Input\Keyboard Layout Files.
Thank you for your time. -
1. I may be dumb and blind but I can’t find -Ice’s rpfile anywhere; even http://www.gadrocsworkshop.com/downloads/14
2. If I have a touchscreen laptop and an android tablet separate from my PC (tablet on network though), can I still use Helios and profiles. If not then what would be preferred programme?

My profile is linked to a “blog page” and you’ll find the link for that on the first post of this thread
You can use your laptop and it’s touchscreen monitor with Helios, yes, but you’ll need another program in order to “network” Helios/MFDE/exports into your laptop and back to your PC. The one I know of is GiGurra’s GPT program but I have no experience with it unfortunately. Good luck!

Thank you for your time.Hello Talisker, can you give me a control that doesn’t work for you when using my .key file??

Pika outHow exactly is your setup plugged in? Main monitor on your GPU and your Helios monitor on the integrated GPU? I was thinking of trying this on my setup, to alleviate the load a bit from my GPU and see if it’ll give me better numbers. What motherboard and GPU are you using?

Thanks got it!
Re GiGurra, I am about to try “spacedesk” https://www.google.com/search?q=spacedesk&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 to see if that works.
While I was searching I also found this which may be interesting. https://www.google.com/search?q=spacedesk&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8#q=mouse+without+borders+setup

Glad to have helped!
I have seen that or a similar program before but never looked deeper into it as I’ve no need for it. Give it a try though and see if it helps in this “unique” situation!!

Hello Ice,
Here’s my set up:
My Rig:
Lenovo X230 Tablet Touch screen
Dockstation
Dell Monitor 2707WFP
Intel Core i7-3520 CPU, 2.90GHz
RAM: 6.00GB
500 GB HDD
Integrated Graphics Card: Intel HD Graphics 4000
64-bit Windows 10 Pro Operating System
BMS 4.33 64 bit
Saitek X52
TrackIR 4
I connect the big monitor to the dock station, and I make the laptop touch screen the Helios’ screen. Now the FPS’s are horrendous! Like 20 FPS. But I hardly get any CTD’S so I guess that’s ok for now.
Here’s a picture of the desktop.Pika out.

I can see your problem straight away, pika. It seems like your setup is upside down. Electrons aren’t very good when inverted.
Are you running BMS off a laptop?
-
I knew something felt weird! :munch:
Yes, I have been running it off the laptop therefore the very low FPS performance. -
Have you sorted your screen-shifting problem yet then?
-
Hi Ice,
I’ve sorted my screen issues. Thanks for asking.
I want to express my thanks for your work but most importantly the way that you carry yourself helping everyone who ask for help with patience and good advice. By far this profile is at the top of all Helios profiles.
On another note, am I wrong to need to create a different profile base on yours of course, but for a started mission and one for ramp start?
Pika -
Very good to know you’re all set and thanks for the kind words! We are/were all n00bs at one point or another or with regards to one topic or another so this is my way of paying to forward to such a great hobby and community.
You are free to create different versions of my profile; weepop has created his own custom one based on his needs and I’m sure others have modified my profile for their use as well. You may need THREE profiles though… one for a cold-start, another for a ramp start, and another for in-the-air missions… all each would need really is just a change in the default start states of select switches.
