SimShaker for DCS World and Falcon BMS support thread
-
Hi Guys,
Could someone check the F-18, Mirage2000, Tornado and perhaps the other new flyable aircrafts with new cockpits.
Would really like to know how this seat is working together with the F-18C at the moment.Cheers Obi1
So far every aircraft on your list to me works. Note that I don’t have a Jetseat so I’m not getting the different areas of vibration in my bass transducers like you would with the Jetseat, but they all are shaking at the right times.

Hi pilots,
as I promised, I’ve finished SimShaker BMS part beta stage by the end of January.
All essential bugs are fixed and I consider current version (1.1.1.15) as stable.
I haven’t added authorization keys yet, but that’s seems not to be a problem.
I’m going to add them later. That’s not the most interesting part of work
You may use SimShaker for free some more time or pay me in advance, if you’d like to support the project. Many thanks to Matt (Snake122), Kelly (wingnut), Stefaan (Focaldesign), Michael (Icarus), HiWay and other pilots for support and feedback.

and thank you for the software. I really enjoy using the jetseat.

Haven’t had a chance to use the new version much yet to try the new flaps effects, but got to try the ground shudders, AB, and speedbrakes are all good. Thanks Andrey!
Hope to get a Jetseat KW-908 sometime in the U.S. so I can play with the different motor location effects!

Quick question, those of you using the KW-908, can you use USB headphones and have the different zones enabled?
Reading the translated Russian site it says you can’t but in ny own testing you can I can at least output to a second USB sound device l via SimShaker, but that is just the mono/stereo output options. While the quietness of the Jetseat is still a plus if I can get one over here, i’m really lookin forward to the idea of different motors vibrating more for different effects.

Not using a usb headphone but that shouldn’t be a problem. The USB connector of the seat uses digital input made by the Simshaker software, not the sound that would be send by BMS. BMS sending audio to your computer, translated into USB for your headphone by your computer; next to that simshaker reading BMS shared memory and generating own USB output to the seat. I would think?
Regarding the quietness. I have to admit one motor of the seat is a lot louder then the others. I can hear it through my headphones. It also starts making noise about 1sec before and after the motors start shaking so I know when a shake is coming. -

Sounds like you have a bad motor My bass transducers are still loud enough to hear through my Logitech G35s at just about any “volume” that makes them tactile.

Just trying to understand…. This is interesting stuff!
So simshaker really reads the shared memory to calculate the effects and not the sound output generated by BMS? Or is it both in a mixed mode? I can’t see bumps in a runway or taxiway being part of the shared memory? Or can one really read the gear compression from there? Just curious…Then again, aren’t those shakes supposed to be real-time effects? Then how can your motors know that you are (for instance) about to fire the gun or about to touch down in a second, so they can start making a noise a second before the actual shake-effect? Or do they start noising on time with the trigger event and the actual shake-effect is a second late, then?
This is amazing stuff!

Yes it reads the shared memory and produces it’s own effect, either sound output for bass shakers or USB effects for the Gametrix Jetseats. It is very cool, immersive, and informative.
It cannot however “see” bumps in the shared memory. The ground taxi effect is a generic effect that will increase and decrease time between occurrences with the speed of taxi. Other effects like low speed buffet, gun recoil, ordnance release shudder, etc. are all from the shared memory in real time. I believe Focaldesign is experiencing just a bad motor in general on his Jetseat. I too am a little confused why it would be able to start a second before everything else…

I don’t think that’s a bad motor. It’s normal for KW-908 motors to produce some noise. If one need noiseless solution I woud recommend to choose KW-901 6-motors model.

What’s the difference between the models?
Regarding taxi bumps I assume you can find some sort of “weight on wheels” or radar altitude 0 in the shared memory showing you are on the ground, and ground speed to calculate the interval of bumps.

Ok, noted. Hope to have the chance to get one of them some day! I don’t need a totally silent, I just want one that is hard to hear through my headphones.

I believe that is exactly what is going on in the latest versions. The simulated bump intervals change with taxi speed now IIRC.

Compared to KW-901, KW-908 has a bit more powerfull and more noisy motors and paired motors in buttocks area. Both models have 6 vibe zones.

Ah ok.
I do like the power. Makes you feel pumped up when firing the gun for example
And I just set the headphones a bit louder for volume, then I don’t hear the motors most of the time. Only when taxiing and there’s almost no chatter on the comms. then I hear the motors vibrating, which kills the immersion of very soft bumps a bit, but that’s a small disadvantage, overall the seat is a big immersion improvement in my opinion. -

I’m about to open my e-shop. Just waiting PayPal approval to connect payments.
Some of you may be my first customers.

I thought I read somewhere that the KW-908 has 8 motors?
Does both the 901 and 908 support the different vibration zones with SimShaker?
One more question I have is with using USB headphones with the USB connection on the Jetseat and the zone vibration settings. The Gametrix website says this isn’t possible, but I could see using SimShaker that it would be.

Yes, 8 motors, but some of them a paired, so resulting 6 zones I can control when developing SimShaker.
Both the 901 and 908 supports 6 different vibration zones with SimShaker. You can use USB headphones, but when JetSeat is running in sound mode, you will need some additional software to stream game sound both to 3.5 mm jack output and USB headphones. SimShaker uses JetSeat in USB mode, no additional tricks needed.

Andre,
Is paypal setup yet on your website? I tried to order today and paypal was rejected.
