-
I don’t think so
Thanks i’ll go and search once more
-
turn off your antivirus as well
-
So Norton deactivated
Framework installed, same as VB Runtimes
Installing Terrain Editor
But when i want to run it (after complete installation) it ask me for confirm of autosaving, I click yes and then i get runtimes error…
Anything else i should know?

post exact error code and wait for Monster’s answer (in terraineditor thread). He will probably guide you via debug process as he did with me few times (gentle guy)
… but most of my problems caused Avast antivirus (it likes to put exe into Quarantine)

Sorry to interject my 2c to this discussion and problem.
I understand the importance of having Monster’s Terrain Editor - the best terrain editing tool there is - installed and working. I am sure there will be occasion to return to this subject and try to solve the problem.
At this point however, since the objective is to create new (from scratch) mountain terrain, I would focus my attention on Dem2Terrain and make that 1st step in creating new terrain by getting all ducks in the row (selection of the terrain size and actual swath of the terrain from main DEM and then perhaps pertaining *.00 files).
Unless someone is letting you edit already made terrain (which I do not think is the case) use of the Monster’s Terrain Editor would not make the terrain from scratch. If you have already started terrain, then the matter is entire different altogether and sure the editing/using Terrain Editor is the way to go. I hope I made myself clear, that TE is kind of tool for the 2nd and perhaps even 3rd stage.

yes, the more detailed list for me would be:
- dem2terrain
- CATE + MSPaint or Photoshop etc.
- terraineditor + terrainview (obsolete, u must produce PCXs for it, but it is fast and simple handtiling util)
I wanted to make it as simple as possible…so dem2terrain to make theater “frame”, highmap + prepare features (roads, rivers, cities, borders) and terraineditor to see something…

Is there any Theater aviable with mountains like 2000+ m?
Or which theater here has the highest mountains, and how much percent from theater is covered with mountains?
Maybe a bit a weird question, but for me, mountains are quit important to fly, not only eye-candy, but also for missile evation. Especially sine i live in a place which is surrounded by mountains, i would really like to have a theater with lots and high mountains
regards razo
The Balkan area geographically has some mountainous terrain but these seems not to represented or projected enough to be seen. It be would nice to be able to use these mountains to evade Sams. I can remember in EF2000, I used this a lot. Also, ambush combat patrol was very common in EF2000. Enemy aircraft will often mask their presence behind mountain and suddenly sneak up on you.

I loved to BVR or dogfight in the mountains (AF AI was good, BMS 4.32 AI crashed often…dont know if it was fixed in 4.33)

http://i844.photobucket.com/albums/ab4/Luk77/PF_02.jpgunfortunally for personal use only…due to the reluctance of the team to fix terrain diagonals
but there is Nordic available, made by Tom…I am sure there are some deep walleys too (I have them in that northern location too)
Hello Lukas, please is Tom Nordic theater available for installation now in bms4.33? How may I be able to download it. Thanks

I dont know more than You. The only info about Norway I take from here:
https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?21642-Norway-Theater-Lets-do-it!/page22
But I adapted my EU for 4.33 without problems…so Grab Norway for 4.32 and use it in 4.33

So i started my work about a theater with high mountains
My favourite are the swiss alp, with axalp, more for a training theater and testing, but also for some skill testing
What are your thoughts and what would you like to see?
-
Maybe some narrow canyons to pass through, in order to hide from enemy defences would be nice….
-
Many years Ago I created this scenary: http://www.panterenere.it/LAB/labirinth.html if someone is interested in converting it to 4.33 standards I would be very glad and happy!

@ the OP, Mountains are EZ to do……as long as they are not tied to the Terrain wireframe…
Here are some pics of the Proof of Concept:I did about the same a few months ago as to creating islands or cities in BMS 4.
In this example again demer has created a Feature (3D Model) on an Objective. WOT!!! it spans more than 4 Tile’s. Yes it can now, maybe could B4 but we were told that a feature ala a bridge could only span 4 Tiles. NeVeR understood that logic??? CODE Sez’……at least I was told.
Well no…har dee har har…
NOW we must put a Texture on IT…arrgh, arrgh…well no,U don’t have to if U learn to PAINT in 3DS MAX. The pix you see were “painted” with Materials in 3DS.So how do we Render\Manipulate the Featured Wireframe in Falcon???..EZ
Like this……
Have FUN,

3d mountain model looks cool. But hitbox setting makes it no joy.
Long time ago There’s a PMC India-Kashmir alpha theater…the mountains are just gorgeous.
Though we cannot create any working campaigns on that rough alpha, pure sight seeing is quite enjoyable,
You may try dig it out for fun. -
Yeap the hitbox is a pita. But still if u have terrain under it and put the mountain on top then it can be OK with a little compromise.
Afterall current terrain is a compromise.
Trees have the same thing. So. -
I think it can be the way to go in case of small islands, sailing ice etc. There is no GU movement and you can place few dummy objects with layered/rotated hitboxes aka “Aztec pyramid approach”…
For large terrain no go, but for Easteregg areas of interrest ok imo.
-
And for large is OK. In IKAROS there is a mountain right next to an airbase well actually 2 and it looks awesome Sparta also fine-tuned the hit box and it’s great.
