MFDE "start" and "stop" greyed out
-
Hi all,
Looks I’m the only one with this issue?
Short status:
- reinstalled Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (x86) and Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1
- cleaned all (visible) traces in register
- tried 0.6.1.0
- same issue
- tried 0.5.7.0
– this showed all functions (start/stop again, displays all selected instruments) but I think 0.5.7.0 is not the correct version for my setup (see questions) - back to 0.6.1.0: same problems as before
some questions ( and excuse my probably stupid questions)
- 0.6.1.1 should work on server win10, client win7, BMS 432 and 433, right?
- 0.5.7.0 should this (still) work under same setup?
thanks for any help, I’m completely in the dark here…
cheers, Marc

I couldn’t get it working either, gave up on it. Tried various versions, read the thread through, still no luck. I did get one of the versions working, i had gauges etc but none of them updated properly, think it was 0.5.7.0 the whole thing needs an update most likely. The icon sits in the tray, but doesn’t do anything with the newer exe’s. This on win 7, 64 bit. Sorry not much help, just a rant…

run as admin?
-
thanks but tried that…

Two hints:
First, don’t install MFDE in a sub/sub/subfolder, hold the path to it as short as possible. Same goes for BMS BTW.
Second, exclude the whole MFDE folder from your Antivirus protection. And again, same goes for the BMS folder. -
Also thanks for the suggestions, but allas, no good came out of it…

Try your BMS 4.32 callsign.ini if it worked in 4.32.
-
Actually, MFDE isn’t working on the client side.
So it doesn’t matter I think if BMS is even started (on the server side) . The problem is that MFDE itself even can’t be started on the client side… (“start” and “stop” selections greyed out) -
Do you have in client…… “start extracting when this program is launched” checked? Both Enable MFD output checked? Server IP address is correct?
-
Thanks for thinking along…
“start extracting when this program is launched” checked? yes, but even than “stop” should not be greyed out.
Both Enable MFD output checked? Yes, but even when unchecked (and other gauges checked) “start” and “stop” should be selectable
Server IP address is correct? yes
But I think the message in the logs (“Object reference not set to an instance of an object”) gives the clue as to what is wrong… which makes me believe it is not persee MFDE but windows configuration is the cause.
(I know virtually nothing about visual C++ or .net so I’m completely in the woods there…)
It did work in the beginning, so I’m pretty sure my MFDE setup is ok.
Meanwhile windows (win 7, 64 bit) is completely “up to date”, but still no good…cheers, marc

Try an older callsign.ini. I had troubles once and it was the callsign.ini.
-
thanks,
but again, the issue shows without starting BMS. MFDE should start client side on its own, with the possibility to select either “start” or “stop”. It doesn’t.
So it has nothing to do with BMS, but with MFDE on its own.cheers, Marc

OK, quick update.
I completely reinstalled windows 7 (32bit) (visual C++, etc), resulting in the same eror situation. In the MFDE log file again ‘object reference not set to an instance of an object. etc etc’
Guess MFDE doesn’t like my system one way or anoher.
Anyway thanks to all for your help and suggestions, I will try other extraction possibilities.
Cheers, Marc -
Try manually deleting the MFD Extractor program folder at “C:\Program Files (x86)\Falcon MFD Extractor” and install the latest MFDE.
