Weather Commander/GUI wind bug
-
- Create a wind map with Weather Commander (e.g. a patch of wind with a higher than normal speed and a direction different from the default). Save the file.
- Open the corresponding TE in-game, and make any changes to the weather (e.g. cloud settings). SAVE WTH.
- Re-load the .fmap in Weather Commander.
- The wind direction in the patch has changed by 180°, or the wind patch has been removed. I have not been able to definitively discern the logic behind the unwanted changes.
This is not necessarily a Weather Commander issue, since when e.g. your home base is located within the wind patch, the 180° shift in wind direction is reflected in the mission briefing.
-
Update 4.33.1: The issue is still present. It is, however, even easier to reproduce than I thought previously. Every time you hit “SAVE WTH” in-game with an .fmap loaded, the wind shifts by 180° as indicated in the briefing screen and afterwards in the actual mission.
-
Hmmm . . . check the BMS Manual, pp 61-66.
The way I see it, once you open your TE, select WEATHER CONTROL, the WEATHER tab, and Map Model in the WEATHER MODEL drop box to load and use the .fmap you created in Weather Commander. That’s it. There’s no need to fool around with any other settings in the WEATHER CONTROL window.
-
I disagree.
-
When building TE’s, I frequently find it necessary to adjust e.g. the visibilities and other cloud settings in-game with the .fmap already created. Every time you apply new visibility settings, the wind gets reversed.

The wind shifting by 180° degrees every time SAVE WTH is clicked is obviously a bug. I’m assuming you are not proposing to leave it uncorrected.
-
-
known issue. you’re right, FMAPS winds are shifted 180° each time we enter TE
Unfortunately a low prio issue at this time so it will be fixed when devs have time to do so -
Temporarily could Ahmed that made the Grb2fmap tool or Weather Commander do the shift 180 so when in TE it will be ok?
Wouldn’t something like that work?
What do you say guys?

If so, wouldn’t saving weather twice be a proper workaround for now?
-
it’s not only when you save weather, when you load te without touching weather it shifts as well

No, again it shift backs and forth according to saved state or TE entering. so shifting by 180° doesn’t solve anything it just changes the first state, which in our case has the exact same symptom
TRy this TE, it’s very easily checked because we’re attacking airplanes about to take off. They spawn one time on one parking, and the next time on the other parking. Because the active runway changed, because the wind shifted 180°.
That’s how we figured the bug in the first place

errrr I’m not talking about shifting the first by 180…. but all wind instances by 180. so that way wouldn’t all be at the correct direction?

Because the next time you save the TE it will shift 180* again … the wind changes by 180 EVERY time you save the TE.

So saving it twice you r ok.
