24/7 Falcon Online CO-OP server
-
I was flying on sunday between 13:00 and 15:00 (UTC) in burn-in test with about twenty ppl around and server crashed twice after 40 minutes IIRC. So devs are right (I’m sure they know what they are talking about) - no big events anymore until new BMS versions some time in future? I want to believe there is a solution…

We have done some changes to the server and it seems stable. Now i would still like to do a stress test again with the new settings. In the Comms lobby saw a lot of clients connected with CS not P2P. That might had something to do with that.
Anyhow we had 15 guys the other day and it ran fine, but everybody was connected with P2P not CS that day. I’d like to do another stress test this coming Sunday to see if it will pass 20 guys this time. If anyone is interested please contact me. Like my previous post everybody is welcome.

I´ll try to be the Archer. Keep it Up!

I’m going to be there. Thankfully I connect with “Peer-2-Peer” and not “Client Server”. By the way how to control the way you connect?

It needs to be set on the Server side. We added a new line in the in the server .cfg
Can’t remember on the top of my head what it is called.

It was smooth and stable event for me. Big thanks! I only regret that I could fly only for an hour…

Close to 3 hours and no crash still. Let’s see if i can get more then 35 guys in there today. Looks like it is stable with 20 guys. Last time it would crash every 45 mins with 20 guys. Oh well i will keep on it to see if it stays like this.
I’d like to thank all the guys who took time out of there busy life’s to help us do this stress test event :bowd:

There will be more specifics to say about this but please keep in mind that we made a trade-off decision in releasing 4.33.1 that specifically concerns MP games with scale of 10’s of players. The BMS team is aware of some specific scaling issues that can result in uneven gameplay and game code crash (CTD) events. Obviously this is less than ideal. However, we chose to release anyway knowing that a very significant portion of the community would get enjoyment and stable results out of 4.33.1 as it stands now, even if some of the larger-server-ops folks might experience frustration.
We’ve actually learned quite a bit and found some new avenues for exploration quite recently. Those investigations will continue and with luck will bear fruit in due course. We did not feel close enough to meaningful changes to address stability and scaling issues, as yet, so as to warrant holding up 4.33.1 from release. The things I’m referring too are inherent in 4.33 as well, btw, it’s not newly introduced issues per se.
We did make a couple of point fixes for issues (for example the g_bSkipAggregationBWCheck fix which we believe will help with ghost flights and the like) but more significant changes to address what we have learned will need to wait a while yet.
Now, please understand that I’m not going to try and get into more details or respond to questions here. Others more familiar with the issues will start separate thread(s) to share what we know and what we think we know and what we think are best-known-methods for improving your chances of stable MP experiences with larger population MP games.
For now, I just wanted to let you know that this is a concern for the team and to temper any frustration you might have coming if you are at some point bitten by these kinds of issues: in that regard, please know that we are aware and working on solutions.
I totally get it: Legal concerns, license, continuation agreements >>> uncontrolable “outdoor movements” (community actions and developments) >>> “damage control”
Been good times with Falcon. Thank you all. Time to move on to “betters” ….
My prophecy: Community dead, EVERY game dies.
Think tactical. If you would be licence holder, you would try to create (make) a market and create demand FIRST, before you turn it into a product.
Every “stock value” is based on something, right? - otherwise just “dead paper”. Use that as argument for them -

AS what I read from your quoted text is we where in the process of fixing something on mp.
The agreement issue came.
So 4.33 was pulled off.
We came to agreement but we had to release a new version.
So we decided to release even if not functioning as we want and most probably for more than 10 users there will be Ctd.In many cases you loose some u win some.

Some trashtalking in here.
As the problems with many clients makes it a bit heavier to make online flight for us the 1st Glories (we usually fly with 20+ pilots) we can still fly online with just a bit more cautiousness. And WE have serveral clients with low upload (0.8 Mbit) and also some CS clients.
Calling the community dead because of some problems WHICH ARE ALREAD WORKED ON is just plain nonsense, period.
