Warthog Joystick vs Real F16 Joystick
-
I love my Warthog Hotas but have an unusual problem. The real F16 has a force sensing flight stick which only moves 1/4 of an inch. How can I set this up on the Warthog? I doubt there is a hardware solution but maybe tweak the control limits in Target so that I get full deflection with little pull on the stick. Have any of you simulated this on your Warthog?
Thank you!

There are (expensive) hardware solutions - for the Warthog, IIRC, only FSSB.
As for doing it on pure software, I see no way of doing it right.

And Arend’s FCC-3.

And Arend’s FCC-3.
If you are willing to sacrifice the CMS “push” function on the Warthog, it could work, but i think you need a cougar base for an FCC.
-
What I have done with my Warthog is to just calibrate the stick to a very high sensitivity - it’s not the same as using an FCC3 (which I also have) but it does train you to make smaller, pressure oriented sorts of inputs because the Warthog stick’s gimbal force is nice and stiff. THe only real problem with this approach it that the sensitivity of the stick centering isn’t as accurate as I’d like to see it - so you need to fiddle with the deadband a bit to get something repeatable.
I plan to use a Warthog grip in my pit project, and may interface the grip using an FCC3 a Pokeys in order to preserve the CMS-down button - which while it may not be “realistic” I find very useful as a shift key. The only other (expensive) alternative to preserve full function of the grip and have a kinethetic stick (that I know of) is this one, from RealSim -

After more than 1k hours with force sensing stick, I tried today to fly in a friend’s home with the classic warthog stick…
Couldn’t keep her straight and level, not even turn properly…

Regarding force sensitive mods to immitate the static Viper SSC:
-
The Cougar can be modded with either the FCC3 or FSSB-R1 or R2 (difference being automotive or aviation grade parts)
-
The WartHog can only be modded with the FSSB-R3.
I have both the FCC3 and FSSB-R1, and they are almost identical in accuracy, sensitivity and quality. The only significant differences are that I like the customer support responsiveness of the FCC3 better, and the FSSB has selectable dip switch programmable X/Y axis force sensivity.
you won’t regret getting a force mod, regardless the cost. It is a joy to fly with, removes spikey pots and gimbals, and prolongs the life of your controller.

Before my R3 I had the FCC2 and my Warthog stick was working like a charm.

Speaking of Fcc2,
Arend upgraded my Fcc1 and Fcc2 to FCC3s for free, just paid shipping. That… My friend, is customer service.
I purchased a FSSB-R1 off a shop that was going out of business, and they sold me the new old stock R1 for 1/2 price. It was missing the metal plate that goes on the top of the Cougar base. I contacted REALSIMULATOR to see if I could buy one, they said sorry they couldn’t. They don’t keep spares. Fortunately it works fine without the base plate, but it did affect my view of Realsimulator compared to Vipercore.

+1, all…the FCC3 RAWKS!

Definitely been my best investment for BMS.

hahahaha it’s me By the way, if someone selling his FCC-1, please let me know it

Hey guys,
sorry to use this thread for my question, but I guess it is the perfect spot.
Thinking about buying the Realsimulator FSSB R3 mod for my warthog and was wondering if BMS 4.33 simulates the takeoff and landing gains, making the stick less sensitive?
-
Yeap, refueling too.
-
Awesome.
Guess I will have to buy it then, ha

If you are willing to spend the € , dont hesitate m8!
I used the X65f force-sensing for 2 years before the Fssb R3 and the difference is noticable. I cant think of using a movable stick again, even for Ww2 stuff.

For you guys (Raptor in particular) that say you’ve put a FCC2 or FFC3 into a Warthog, are you saying…
a. You put the FCC mod into the Warthog base, if so please provide pictures. The FCC wouldn’t fit into a WH base afaik.
b. You put the Warthog stick onto a Cougar base with a FCC, if so I’m doing this with the FCC3 and FSSB-R1 -
The B.
You can take the Warthog or Cougar stick gribs, and connect them to FCC, then put the FCC to either Cougar stick base or to a real or replica SCC.
