    • Night Flying & Situational Awareness

      Hello,

Any tips for flying at night with no moon and/or in clouds? The following are the challenges:

      • FLIR: Only looks out in front and useless in clouds; can the real one look through clouds?

      • Targeting Pods: Useless in clouds; can the real one look through clouds?

      • Formation: I have my flight fly in Trail Formation since I can’t see them anyway; is that the strategy in real life?

      • Datalink: “Cont” does help but every now and then they disappear until the next “Cont” round.

      • Tacan: Set my A/A Tacan to Wingman’s frequency; somewhat helpful but would have to keep switching to the element’s frequency the find them.

      • Night Vision Goggles: Useless in clouds or moonless nights; no tanker obviously.

      • Combat: BVR Only & GPS weapons only.

      Thank you

    • Voice Activated Commands

      Hello,

I was looking to set up voice commands on my AI communications but don’t know much about it. Is the link in the post below the latest version and is it compatible with 4.35?

    • Interrogate Ground Targets with IFF?

      Hello,

Do military ground vehicles have IFF Transponders/Interrogators in real life and can the F-16 interrogate with AG radar as it would with air-to-air? Or, is that more of a link-16 kind of thing with the red/blue on the HSD? AWACS “vector to Target” in BMS doesn’t seem very realistic so trying to understand what is realistically possible without link-16.

One other note is that Bullseye is being used to communicate ground vehicle locations. Isn’t Bullseye used for air contacts only while GPS coordinates are used for ground contacts?

      Thank you!

    • RE: Mode 3 IFF

Will Mode 5 be implemented in BMS or are the details on that mode classified?

    • RE: Mode 3 IFF

Yes I read all of that material. I was trying to understand interrogation in mode 3 specifically. How would you know the code of the civil aircraft? If my mode 3 is set to 0423 and the civil plane is set to 6545 then that will always return “unknown” in yellow. To get a friendly ping I would need to set my code to 6545, correct? I assume ATC would provide the military pilot with the civil planes code?

    • Mode 3 IFF

      Hello,

How does mode 3 IFF work on the the real F16? Is there green and yellow interrogation like we do in Modes 1, 2, and 4 or is it basically transponder only like an airliner? How do we identify civil aircraft with IFF?

      Thank you

    • Block 70 Amraam Stations 3 & 7

      Hello,

Will the block 50 ever be fitted with the triple Amraam station in real life or is this unique to the block 70?

    • RE: Idle Thrust Taxi

Finally got it to work with clean weight and < 5,000 LBS of fuel. If less than 5,000 LBS of fuel then all I have to do is release the park brake and it starts to move. If > 5,000 LBS of fuel then the aircraft won’t move unless a notch of power is applied.

      Thank you

    • RE: Idle Thrust Taxi

      @Mav-jp:

no, once you have moved your throttle once and put back idle, if you release the parking brake, the AC will start to move, as in real.

This is of course depenant on GW 🙂

Ok I have a clean weight (no external load) and the F-16 (block 50) won’t move unless I push the throttle up. Let’s forget about the first time when you get in sim, I get that. If I taxi around the field at no time will it ever start moving unless I push the throttle up.

I have no joystick, rudder, or throttle connected so no interference from that. Park brake off, no movement until I get lightly above 72%. Once I start moving the aircraft continues with no problem. Stop, release brakes, no movement again.
