Interrogate Ground Targets with IFF?
-
Hello,
Do military ground vehicles have IFF Transponders/Interrogators in real life and can the F-16 interrogate with AG radar as it would with air-to-air? Or, is that more of a link-16 kind of thing with the red/blue on the HSD? AWACS “vector to Target” in BMS doesn’t seem very realistic so trying to understand what is realistically possible without link-16.
One other note is that Bullseye is being used to communicate ground vehicle locations. Isn’t Bullseye used for air contacts only while GPS coordinates are used for ground contacts?
Thank you!

From my knowledge, military ground vehicles do not have IFF transponders/interrogation systems on board. They are using Link 16, same goes for naval units.

Correct we don’t have IFF interrogators on board.
For NATO we will be switching to a new BMS Battlefield Management System as of 2023 which is a follow up of Link16 networkGesendet von meinem SM-G930F mit Tapatalk

I thought you were giving an update time for that in BMS :P.

As I was talking about “the other” BMS I’m able to write dates instead of 3-4 weeks
