Cougar stick - none of the buttons are working
-
hey guys, cougar newbie here:
got my cougar, followed cub’s guide, everything seems to be in order, when i opened ccp - it said i have to update firmware. i ran cougar update, got nothing.
when i opened the control panel to see whats wrong - i saw that none of the stick buttons worked. axis are fine, throttle buttons all work ( no indication of cursor though).
i checked the grip connection - everything looks o.k.
help

to force a firmware upgrade, you can connect the USB of the stick with the trigger depressed
PLEASE disconnect the throttle when you do that. that avoids destroying the Z pot (which sometime may happen) -
Check the ribbon connector to the board. . Could also be a bad connection in the handle itself.
If the axis work the board is likely ok .Cheers : Dave

red dog, thanks for your reply,
the problem is the buttons dont register, so depressing the triger does nothing.
my question is - could ths be a software failure, and if not - where should i look in the hardware?

ok, problem solved!
it turned out to be the metal tab with two screws that holds the connector on the base - someone over-tightened those, which made the connector too low. hand tested everything works fine!
all i had to do was to put two washers for it to be a little higher up.
seems to be working great now
