Maverick Capital Sensor
-
Hello all, I have a concern with the mavericks…So I had a boresight malfunction, no sweat I said as I would just use the TGP to find targets and lock them up on the weapon page well I had what looked like a solid lock and fired, then fired my second shot…all parameters were in the green, ecept I missed both shots. Do you have to boresight mavericks in order to use them in pre mode from now on ??

yes, to do a handoff between the tgp and mav you must align them first. before you enter the combat zone target a building far away with the tgp then look at the mav page you will see the do not aim at the same spot, you correct this for each pylon, then your good to go.
This must be done every mission.

No, you can make the WPN page the SOI and find and lock a target with the Mav seeker head …. same as ever. But you do need to be ‘in the keyhole’ and in range … which doesn’t seem as far as it was in 4.32/4.33.

Can you do BORE mode Maverick attacks successfully? Forget about VIS/PRE until you can do BORE reliably. Review the launch parameter limits for the missile.

Ya I’m a veteran at bms and its new features what I’m sayin is this…before the update this wasn’t a problem but now it is…i was 7 miles away I saw the bracket and saw the video in my mfd no flashing cross so I know I was in range bcuz caret was below the max line of the dlz I’m just wondering if u have tgp as main sensor will u still have the means thru the weapon if tgp is the main sensor

What does ‘means thru the weapon’ mean?
To use the MBC successfully, you need to boresight each station you intend to use. PRE mode does not force you to use the MBC. You can just as easily make attacks with the WPN format SOI.

Solid cross doesn’t necessarily mean the Maverick is valid for launch. I have a suspicion that you may be directing the Maverick LOS along with SPI but never making the actual handoff. A proper Maverick track will remain tracking even if the FCR/TGP are turned off or moved away.

In 4.33U1, if you use TGP + PRE WPN, you must Handoff and Boresight. If you use VIS WPN or BORE WPN, you can ignore TGP and Boresighting. You just have to ensure a good lock in WPN page after it becomes SOI (which is after you TMS Up the target in HUD). Steady the aircraft for a bit before firing and you should hit your targets. If you’ve done the systems right, it’s usually the ‘jinking’ that screws things up.
