A little tanker problem with AI as lead
-
?
Sorry, what do you mean exactly?I think what he is referring to is there some enemy aircraft or SAM system in the neighborhood that the tanker was reacting to and thus all of the AI aircraft were trying to follow the lead of the tanker.
Also since you set that up as a TE I’d verify the altitude settings of the tanker track so that it isn’t suddenly changing which could also cause fun issues.

Yeap that’s what I mean.

Ah, no…nothing of that. It is a TE with no hostiles, only US flights.
And…it is the same TE which works in one case, and works not (fine) if I change the time I’m in the cockpit, or/and if I change the arrivals at the refuel waypoint ('for the A-10’s) a little. E.g. the change of the time for the waypoint was ~ 30 seconds! -

Can confirm…the speed. It is very slow. At first my assessment was ~ 280 knts.

But the tanker was again climbing up to ~ 21000…IIRC.
I’m now on my GNU/Linux, but I will boot to Win-7 later the day and I will check it out…In advance:
The refuel begin with the A-10’s and the tanker is, at the point I arrive in the area, busy with refueling the A-10’s on ~ 21000.Thanks so far!

So what was the problem afterall?

Ok thought you found a solution or the cause.

Yes and No…that is still the problem. You can find a solution by “switching” the parameters, I cannot better explain in English. It can be, that you change the time for TOS (e.g. for refuel) only a few seconds and the whole TE doesn’t work fine anymore (see e.g. that diving from the tanker).
And what about the alt for refuel for the A-10? It should be, so I read, 17.500, but they get their fuel at 21.000…
So, with much try out, yes, you can find a solution.

It happens again…
What have I made:
I took an existing TE, which I flew several times and where all works well, and set the times 35 min. earlier. Nothing else. The tanker was at 21.000 as the A-10’s arrived and dived to 17.500 as the A-10’s starts refuel …
As they were ready tanker speeds up to ~ 390 knts and was slightly climbing to 21.000…
As soon #1 (AI lead) took position at the boom, tanker drops immediately to ~ 300 knts…

I flew that TE again and it worked fine. But tanker refuels than at 21.000 not at 17.500 for the A-10’s…
@Arty:
So, no, there is still an issue. I’m not able to find out what this issue raises…Regards

And again an issue, as I changed the times…
In order of getting fuel:
A-10’s refuel with 240 knts at 21.000.
F-16’s refuel with ~ 340 knts at 21.000.
F-16’s (my flight with AI as lead), tanker drops immediately its speed to 300 knts, as soon AI lead got to the boom.IMO there is an issue, which is inside the code.

I took an existing TE, which I flew two times without any issue. Then I added two flights (C-130, E-8) only to enliven the scenery, while I’m starting, as supernumerary at the beginning of the TE…
Looks like that:
While AAR, the A-10’s as first got fuel at ~ 240 knts…
And then…, tanker was speeding up as long the F-16’s before my flight refuel, up to 390 knts!
(Me as #3 of four.)It is really annoying and “destroying” the whole flight:
Can someone confirm such a behaviour?
Do the devs take this issue serious?
It would be really nice if this issue will be fixed!TIA

Ok, my final…I’ve made a new TE!
In order of appearance:
F-15’s 3-ship
F-4’s 2-ship
F-16’ 4-ship (own flight, me as #3)All those flights should refuel at 300 knts at 21.000, isn’t it?
But tanker speeds up to ~ 390 knts and as soon #1 (of own flight with me as #3) gets to the boom, tanker drops speed immediately to 300 knts.
It’s so sad!Earlybite

I can confirm this issue, it has happened to me on several occasions over the past several flights in which other aircraft were tanking.

I’m sitting at the moment at my computer booted with Win-7…, and I will try two other TE’s.
One F-15’s flight only before mine and one F-16’s flight…And, sir, thank you. It is very important to me.

So simple…
Try 1:
F-4’s 4-ship, refuel at ~ 320 knts
F-16’s 4-ship (own flight), tanker speeding up to ~ 360 knts and drops speed abrupt to 300 kntsTry 2:
F-16’s 4-ship, refuel at 300 knts
F-16’s 4-ship (own flight), refuel at 300 kntsWould be nice if in future it will be possible to use other a/c’s too for AAR.
TIA

Do all F-16 variants tank properly? I have tested a few variants and it supports your theory. I’ve also tested a few non F-16 jets (A-10, F-4, F-22, and E-3) and I got identical results to yours. I will continue testing other aircraft but I suspect the result will be the same for everything that isn’t a Viper.

In case of the F-16’s, I tried only the standard Block-52-c…
Which tanker were you using? I use KC-135…
Maybe I can give the KC-10 a try?
