The best ever? What does it means exactly?! It handles modern architecture? Wow?!
Win-7 is also rock solid, so what. What exactly the thing what an OS makes it to the best?!Um no thanks to MS choices on Win 10 I have zero interest in it. Even at free it was unpalatable to me.
Sorry guys, but these are clear signs that this discussion could easily turn into an OS flame war… and it’s now very long time since I swore “no more of that for me”, I wasted more than enough time on that when I was young and dumb.
I hope you won’t get angry if I stop here, at the very end operating system of choice is like opinions and underwear: everyone has his own.
I also hope you didn’t take me for a MS fanboy: you obviously don’t know me personally, but trust me if I say you I work with Linux since 1996 - my first distro was a bunch-of-floppies Slackware 3.0 with 1.2.13 kernel… God bless Patrick Volkerding! -, have been president of an italian Linux User Group for 10 years and have spent many years contributing to the community in various ways (yes, even doing my part in OS flame wars that were fashionable on Usenet at that time…)… and I still am in love with it and use it everyday at work (I am an IT Manager and Senior System Administrator).
I simply became agnostic towards operating systems and am on the side of products that work… and in my experience W10 works, and works much better than any other desktop Windows version I ever tried… that’s all.
Thanks for your patience and let we all go back to the fun with BMS!!! :drink: -
That’s ok BlueRaven, as I said there’s no need to turn this simple question “Should I upgrade or not?” into another bms / dcs style thread ^h ^h ^h ^h flamefest.
“Yggdrasil” was my first Linux distro way back then, I still remember compiling GNU Emacs from source on an Ultrix DECStation over the lunch break at uni.
To each his / her own, live long and prosper
All the best, Uwe

At some point we all realize that speaking is silver, shutting up is gold

It’s free so yes. If you don’t like it, you have a month to safely roll back to Win 7. You might as well get it if it’s free; it would be daft not to IMO.
-
Rollback was not safe for me, it caused registry problems on my laptop. Had to clean install W7.
-
As for stuff being “free”, here’s food for thought:
Naturally, this doesn’t apply to free and libre open source software, which win10 isn’t.
All the best, Uwe

I don’t know what all the fuss is about. I’ve not had ONE single problem with Win10. Did you guys install the upgrade (this registers your SN), then download and reinstall from fresh? This way you should have no problems with Win10 at all. Works perfectly on my PC, laptop and all machines in my house.

Actually they shortened that to 10 days with the anniversary patch. Heads up for any that are in that situation.

Don’t listen to any of these chumps holding on to Windows 7.
Same people still duel booting Windows ME with XP.
Cheese pilots……all of them.
Really into name calling? There are legitimate reasons to stick with Win 7 as well as legitimate reasons to go to Win 10. That doesn’t make one right or the other wrong. That makes people different. So do us all a favor and keep that non sense to Yahoo. If you can’t keep yourself from getting a dig in on other people because they don’t share your opinion then don’t post.

Oh me oh my……
So many thoughts on this issue, for the most part, from all I have read here, it seems most are just discovering Win 10 privacy matters and such. Yes for some it seems to work good, for me it was a shambles. I am talking clean install, and early days when the distro was just released in the UK. Lack of drivers, Creative SB in particular, crashes (yeah I know, it’s basically a beta). Even roll back was a PITA.
Anywho I digress, I have no idea if this will get me an infraction, but it has been a wonderful source of information and help to me (please forgive me mods if this is out of line, but it may help some).
I am sure many of you are aware of subsim forums, without giving a direct link. If you go there and look in General Topics-PC Hardware Software-Windows 10:What You Need To Know
There are many pointers about the pitfalls of 10 and how to secure your win xxxx installs from the crap MS is trying to install without permission.
Again apologies for any wrong doing in terms of cross forum… erm advertising, if you like. Just thought it may help some.
For my part I’m sticking with 7, all references to MS secured.
Best regards.
