I’have the same problem, if i enable alpha Channels in save options i get the right colors (and trasparency) but what is located in that area is not visible.
If i disable th alpha channels i get the logo in the transparency area but not trasparences and the background is in light grey as displayed into the boomer135 image.Any help is welcome…
i try to save it also in DXT5 but it look the same. -
Actually I always use DTX1 to save space unless there are transparencies in which case I use DTX3.
I don’t see my white highlighting behind the black lettering to good. But I can see it plain as day in GIMP. Should I just offset it more?
yes? It’s a simple matter of offsetting. It has nothing to do with alpha channels or DTX1-5
Click the pic below to see my project so far. As you can see in the pic the area in question under the pilot where the “Warning” sign is at. I also see other guys are having a problem with this are. I am completely new to this and I do not know how tofix that. It is on both sides. Thanks for looking….
that’s an alpha channel which is on the wing texture, not the tail.
the alpha channel on the tail texture is only for the intake badges, fuselage (behind canopy badges) and nose serialsso the wings texture wheer these alpha channels are must be at least DTX3.
IMHO, you have an issue with the wrong transparent colour used. Alpha channel transparency must be white
Opacity is black.
Basically everything though white will show up, everything through black will stay hiddenYou must go into the layers and find the alpha channel layer and ensure that it’s only black and white there (no grey, no nothing (hence why no anti aliasing when cutting or adding shapes)
For further information, there are skinning tutorials all aroundHave fun

this is how I fixed it in Gimp. Im a noob and i am sure im putting tooo much into it… but it worked.
Open the psd and highlight layer, wire frame. (top menu now) than layer and “layer to image size”. (this is essential for picking later) it will be 1024x1024 now that is set …
Hit the channels tab and you see RGBAlpha and below that under the line ALPHA… Click that ALPHA the Eyeball to make it active…
Select around the Wire frame with Inteli Scissors
Highlight base layer (the bottom grey layer …make it active for editing)
Hit Delete (turns white) (this will delete off the base layer making the wire frame areas void of color)
Turn on all the layers you want in your image.
Flatten. (now you got a flat image with white spots )
Click on layers and add Alpha Channel.
Select by color region and delete the white.
Export as DXT1
When you delete the white it makes it transparent. When you add an alpha it makes the background your 2nd color on you tools. So I had to delete the white. It worked.Very simple and can be done in 30 seconds.
And I saw your post Red about saving in DXT3 but now conflicts wit Dema saying ALL skins are DXT1 exceopt tail DXT5.
Cheers -

This is what i’ve got with alpha channel and without alphachannel
In this examples i didn’t change the PSD but only the way i export in DDS files
-
with alpha channel, the area becomes transparent.
the problem you have is that the RGB layer of the PSD has the light grey as background colour where the artwork goes.
You need to paint that area with the dark grey fuselage colour too.
and replicate the panel lines and rivet work too.Or you must cut from the alpha channel, ONLY the badge you’re trying to replicate. leave the area black and detour just the badge on the alpha channels, and then only the badge will be seen through
-
may be i solved it…it seems that is enough to cut only the region and not the logo contour. i select the areas from alpha channel layer then i selected the background grey area and i cut the selection. then i enabled the logo/badge pattern and i saved it with alpha channel on and in DXT 5 and it WORKS!!
I saved the PSD with this configuration and now i have not to be worried from transparency for the future changes, i mean no operation like fill cut and so on for future improvement or graphics change, no background replication or something else.I don’t understand why when i tried to disable the background layer (that it should be the same as to cut the area) it didn’t work…

I don’t understand why when i tried to disable the background layer (that it should be the same as to cut the area) it didn’t work…
because that area in the artwork (RGB channel) has a light grey as background

Hey there Red Dog,
So… any news about the Block 52+ skins?
Thank you! -
? What do you mean?
-
@Red:
? What do you mean?
Well, in the first post, you said you were planning to release the Block 52+ and CFT skins as well… that’s what I was referring to
-
they are done but un-releasable as it’s a grey B52+ which currently has no point in BMS
It will be released probably with the RSAF 52+ in … 3-4 weeks -

Thank you either way! -
… I guess not. Haha, well, thank you anyway, and thank you for the great job.

Haha okay, sorry, just wanted to know if they will eventually come! I can even stand to wait… 3-4 weeks, no problem

Any word on 52+cft?
-
Would be great making some custom skins for the CFT blocks…
-
Anyone know why these are shiny?
-
light reflection, move the angle and they won’t be as shiny
i found out that alpha channels always reflect more than regular channels
