Monster Terrain tool

Is it happening during the save process or during import process?
-
during import process….save file looks OK
-
Then why would you check the “delete temp…” checkbox? This is only to delete the temporary BMS files while saving the theater terrain files (pressing the green Save button).
Anyway, I tried to reproduce the error but without any luck so far. I’ll keep looking into it.
-
So…if I send you my export file (around 9MB), you should be able to import it into 64 segment theater (I can send it too, because of compatibile mea, map etc).
I am curious what is wrong with my install/laptop configuration…on the other hand it is rather “one time operation”…wait I just realised I have TE on second XP laptop…so I will try it there first
Thanks

I just found a bug that might produce the errors you’re getting.
Please, open TE.ini (in program’s folder) with a text editor and make sure the line DEBUG has the value of 0 and not something else. It’s under section [SYSTEM].
If not, change it to 0 and try again. It should be 0 anyway since debug should be used for short periods of time, because the Debug.txt that is produced gets very big over time. If the value is not 0, you should delete Debug.txt as well to save disk space.

My debug file was over 27 MB! Thanks for hint, now it works perfect!
Thank you so much again Monster. -
I was having the some maybe same issue long ago, maybe this fixes and the super large pictures import to slice them?…
thanx Monster -
Hi Monster!
I need a little help, if possible.
Today, when running you Terrain Editor V3.6.1, I opened the window for loading up TEs and CAMs files (can´t recall the right name for the window right now, sorry) and the window did not appear on the desktop, althoug it appeared on the taskbar.
So I uninstalled it and tried to install again, as I did several times with no problems at all.
But right now, it installs fine and when it asks for auto update, if I say either yes or no, this error comes up:
I’m running WIN10 and it used to work fine until now.
Can you help in some way?
Thank you.Best regards,
Nuno -
Hey, hi Nuno my friend.
Well I had a similar issue around a week ago, and the problem caused by my Avira antivirus. It deletes the file “Loader.exe” from the main program folder.
So BEFORE you make a nice installation try, first disable your antivirus. After the installation and the update to the latest version, make an exclusion of the main program folder of Terrain Editor in your antivirus and then no similar issues!
I have now 1.5 week just fine ;).
If you still have issues after this action, report back…
I hope to help you buddy.

I’m also getting the Runtime Error 53, file not found problem. Anyone have any ideas? I’m running Windows 10. BMS is installed on my D drive here: “D:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1”. The Terrain Editor is installed here: “D:\Program Files (x86)\TerrainEditor” and my original Falcon 4 is installed here : “D:\GOG Games\Falcon 4.0”.
EDIT: I got it working. Monster has a FAQ section addressing this very thing. The 3rd method worked for me.

For Runtime Error 53 look here and the following post: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?5904-Monster-Terrain-tool&p=364611&viewfull=1#post364611

“0 DDS file(s) could not be found.
Search folder: C:\FALCON BMS 4.33 U1\DATA\ADD-ON VENEZUELA\TERRDATA\TEXTURE\TEXTURE
This file is saved in C:\Program Files (x86)\TerrainEditor\Bad_DDS.txt
File created: 22-02-2017 16:01”Any ideas of what im doing wrong

It’s telling you, you have NO terrain texture files. And if you do, they are located in the incorrect folder.
You shouldn’t have two texture folders.

Well, the tiles will be there, but they won’t be correctly placed. About the best you can do is recon stuff in the TE Builder.
If you try to build a TE or try to do a campaign it will crash most likely. But I have no idea where in the process you are.

thats what i want a recon tiles are just a mess anyway jajaja but i want a big picture more than what TE brings at a time…
Basicly i passed the dem2terrain tocreated the L2 file and autotiled with CATE… i managed to create a Terrdata folder… and give the structure as other theaters but when i select in UI the game crashes…i noticed it that i miss some files like .nrm .sbi .tid .bil but i dont find how to create them or what information it suposed to have…
-
Do you have a terrain folder with your Theater.L2 and Theater.O2 file in it??
Do you have a .tdf file an all that other stuff?

About TERRAIN.BIL,TERRAIN.HDR,TERRAIN.NRM,TERRAIN.SBI, and TERRAIN.TID
The sim looks at start if those files already exist.
if not, they will be created automaticly from .L2 and .O2.So whenever you’ve changed .L2/O2 you should either del those files manually,
or use Monsters TE which has AFAIK an option to auto delete those files. They get recreated and therefore updated with latest .L2 info on next sim start.
@Zee niner
It seems you’re extreme active these days, by fixing nove’s stuff (finally :D)
… and taking the time to be helpfull to all those lads out there.Very nice!
P.S. I hope photobucket will solve their performance problems soon.
Sorry, external smileys don’t work atm.Sent from my laptop using keyboard.
Cheers,
