Is this a good theater to run a CV/F18 with?

Two things I’ve noticed. One, it freezes. With 1.1 it seems to take sometime before it freezes. The second, with 1.1 I’m getting a numbers for the airports. This isn’t the case for the other campaigns.

Starrats and I are going to further improve the campaigns, units specifically, in the new year to hopefully iron out any lingering issues.

Should existing saves work after updating to 1.1?
Also, does anyone have recommended LAT/LON coordinates for use with zygrib or similar realistic weather tools?

Existing saves won’t be compatible, far too much has changed.

The numbers instead of airport names was in the New Millennium campaign. The freezes happen in that campaign also.

another campaign report :
first campaign, fly RED side. RED side wins on Day 2 1125, by GU capturing Bifuka obj.
as Blue has strong air and land power in the beginning, I ordered some aggressive red spearhead GUs holding their advance or moving backward…waiting the result of opening air war.
At the cost of losing many fighter/attacker/bombers(by adding package), the only US carrier was sunk and most blue fighter/attacker bases was disabled…thus i established Red air dominance over Hokkaido.
i also added package to destroy all blue army bases - the choppers do lots damage to GUs!once most air threats disabled, all air power concentrated on pre-CAS, hammering Blue GUs, to open a safer way for red GUs… even so, ground war still happened at several hot spots - i added more pre-CAS packages to help GU breaking thru the blue defense.
of course i joined 3d world flying for critical AA/AG/Antiship missions…lots fun like intercepting A-10, shooting AH-64, CAS over ground war hot zone is really cool. as for antiship missions, AS-20 works nicely… but AS-6 causes CTD. AS-10 cannot boresight, AS-17A no working.
in short… the kurile mod works almost as good as default korea. great job.
PS - i do encounter freeze at 2nd or 3rd loading pie for twice… reboot, and no more cTD.

the carriers are set up right with radios and all have f18s that cat launch off if thats what you mean. old has f18a and the rest have Cs and new has the superhornets. so theres always a f18 option.
If you dont watch out though there are Russian Bears Launch a lot of cruise missiles at carrier group. I had lots of fun testing this.
wrongway–this is save1 millinum camp maybe you dont have the right save1 file somehow, but i will pm you after i check it out.
OK i see what you mean names show up on map view in tac-edit but squadron airbase shows like this the problem is I forgot to hit rebuild squadrons! ugh…. after i did it is right and looks like this sloppy mistake sorry Chuckles!

in my last test campaign(the cold war),
- several red reinforcement GUs show up in the sea, outside NE coastline of northern Hokkaido. some GUs closer to coastline can move back on land. one in deep water can’t.

. hi ccc. i noticed this also and have a fix i think but i need to talk to malc about it. i need to check it out some more and pm him but it is posibly an easy fix with tile bin. i will get back to you after i talk to malc. cheers

I download and install v1.1+ campaign hotfix1. ( not previous beta test zip).
the cold war campaign, select carrier-based F14A, first flight on 0903, want to join and take off from carrier… loading stuck at 2nd pie > freeze. I reboot and do it again > same freeze.
then I try third time > I let the f14A flight airborn then join > ok.the freeze doesn’t generate crashlogs txt, but three error txt files…

i am still looking for a fix for that. i have seen this bug in many theaters. including original KTO. i only know of three common work arounds. 1 set your own flights with no escorts from carrier. 2 what ccc did let ai take off in 2d and join after. 3 start campaign from land base for first flight only(not tested by me yet). i have researched this stuck on 2nd load pie from carrier bug in forums. i came up with nothing but known issue statements and those work arounds. if anyone knows more of it please let me know i have been after this bug ever since i started modding campaigns. cheers

I try joining a f-4ej flight stationed at NE coast of Hokkaido, this time I can get in pit and taxi near takeoff runway…then screen freeze…no crash log, just a txt named dtc_???, it’s content is empty.
IMHO stuck in 2nd pie seems related to cam file…terrain, 3d model or pit are loaded in later pies.
Again, I’d like to clarify my previous b test is focusing on ground war-to-win, so my 3d flying always starts near hot zone, to save boring travel time.
For the time being joining flight in mid air is the best solution.
Oh, forgot to mention when I finishing red-win campaign, a news report pop up: US is pulling out of Korea.
That text in tri file? can be edited to “pulling out of Hokkaido”.Btw this mod doesn’t have its own skin folder…cause LE crash.

With the latest 1.1 + hotfix I am now getting tree’s on Monbetsu runway end.
Also had ctd after exiting mission. (first mission, first campaign after being shot down). No crashlog found afterwards.
Previous versions with same campaign did never ctd.Cheers Obi1

just to report - creating and flying three TE missions, no CTD. can take off and landing.
the campaign bugs seem limited to cam file.

Hi Obi,
The trees on runway issue is cos there is no airbase terrain tiles defined for Monbetsu currently in the L2 file - the airbase is on farmland which unfortunately means this will happen. If we ever get proper tiles for this base it’ll get fixed properly. In the meantime, I can remove the trees from the texture.bin for the offending tiles.
The campaign files are a “fix” - we’re going to be reworking them completely in the very near future to hopefully stop the CTDs altogether (I’m very confident the fixes/reworks will do the job).

Just mentioned it because I flew quite a few missions in the first release of Kurile, starting from the same airbase and noticed all the differences (trees) after the update.Another thing I noticed just an hour ago is there seems to be a lot of micro stutters that at first I thought to be related to the BMS update3, but after switching to default KTO it seems to be gone or at least much less.
Will need to do some more tests, but it seems Kurile related.Anyway, just trying to help.
