RedFlagTG Theater Announcement

Have basic tiles in place but it is very ugly at the moment. Still looking at tiles and working creating some as well. Not ready to post anything up at this point but work continues.
Any update?

Having done a complete theater once - it only took 6 years! I suspect Nevada will take at least a few years to do it properly. Really depends on the bells and whistles.
I wouldn’t mess around with anything less than 64x64 and anything more than 64x64. Nevada is doable but the real killer is the terrain. ITO sucked until Polak made some fantastic desert tiles. However, the real standard is photorealistic. Be great if someone could drag and drop huge swaths of Google earth terrain in scale for the area and then work on patches of phototiles with transitions into photorealistic tiles that blend into the more traditional falcon tile sets.
Having grown up in Las Vegas, and right near Nellis, I would have a hard time cozying up my home town looking like the same old falcon city tiles. The real cats meow would be to phototile Las Vegas, Lake Mead, the mountain north of Vegas up to Area 51 and west to Indian Springs, Tonopah, etc . . . one could perhaps build the DB to include a lot of international A/C as is the custom for visitors at Nellis. Might also add in the Thunderbirds - that would be a cool thing to see a multiplayer airshow . . . it is all just dreams. The hard part is making it become a reality. I tend to think the old installer has the terrain sufficiently built - just tweak it with hand-tiling and elevation adjustments. Then get a good TE builder and TE the heck out of the theater.

@Iceburg - any progress?

If you’re doing Red Flag, it has to be a TE set if youre going to simulate the exercise itself. The Ex itself does not build on the previous day’s mission per se, except where they are conducting a CSAR/JPR serial. In that case some unfortunate the day before gets to be designated mort for the following day’s mission to allow the CSAR bods to practice their TTPs. The actual theatre need not be that large (in comparison to other places), as in actual fact the NTTR and the area around it is all that is really required. Apart from Nellis, you only really need Tonopah and Creech AFB for the airfields. Anything above those would actually be unrealistic since anything else operating from another afld generally comes from much farther afield (think Barksdale or Dyess for the Global Strike guys).
Best of luck anyway, as for all my comments above, I’m nowhere near knowledgeable enough to even scratch the surface of a project like this!

I agree, what we are NOT realizing yet is that Falcon\BMS allows us Theater Dckhds to have OFF MAP Airbase’s to fly the AI as well as “JP” squads off of.
We can take a quick look at GUAM BETA (4.32) and realize that KADENA is no where on the map, but the ATO still generates the C130 and F15 flights from there.
Jeesh……LOL!!!
I guess WE did not :rtfm: enuff!!!BIG sigh,

Very stupid question: why not use selected desert and Mountain tiles from ITO? Its desert After all, right? And screw carrier ops, its desert after all right?
Very interested in the Progress of this one -
Cougar’s question is not stupid instead.
But - permissions to use that stuff ‘legally’ apart, of course - I’m afraid that process wouldn’t come out easy the same, also because the location is different, and the kind and colours of its ‘desertic’ land of its same kind consequently.I don’t know, may this way to approach the matter be the right one?
With best regards, -

With best regards,You need a working theater before anyone will actually help provide tiles. That requires a lot more then I was able to figure out when I tried.

Rather than going old school, it would be better to build a terrain using Demer928’s textured wireframe. Once you have that terrain miracles can happen. That being said, I have a whole selection of 1024x1024 BMP format tiles given to me by a former MS FS2004 developer. If anybody needs the tiles, pm me and I can give you a download link.

Thanks for your quick reply, Ripper, well intended and of course - I was not too much clear in my previous post, I’m afraid, but I presupposed what you have pointed out.
Ant to Chuckles: this is more than ‘something’… only hope that someone and well skilled too can hear you.
With best regards to all,

Ahem, what about these tiles?
I don’t know if you guys are still working on Nevada or not, but I have these tiles for Nellis and Luke. You can have my permission to use them.

Hello,
Nellis - RedFlag works on BMS 4.33 U5?
It would be very interesting if the Nellis RedFlag Scenario could be the Standard for TE in the BMS.
In Falcon 3.0 this happened, could this development continue?
-
This would be a real godsend, not a simple gift.
I liked this theater a lot since the very first time I could get it installed years ago, and I’m still missing a serious one released.
Let’s hope in well… and wait patiently, of course. With best regards.

So let’s wake up the dead… any news on this? Is the team there active?
-
Welcome back, dear Arty!
I was almost missing your and your wise comments.
+10000! I’m with you, and so please anyone let me to ask as you did: what else are we waiting for?
Come on, guys, let’s do it! I still have some ideas about the future campaigns in my mind.
What about you, Ranger (welcome back to you too, BTW)? What do you think?
With best regards to all.

I would love to have a NTTR to fly around in BMS. :biggrin1:
If R-2508 were part of it, too, that would just be a huge bonus. :amen:
Even if something like a Red Flag campaign weren’t available, I would just love to fly around in that desert sky. But, of course, being able to fly missions against adversaries would be awesome too

Is that BMS or DCS world sir?
