''Light'' sim rig advice
-
BTW, all great advises here!
If nothing gives, why limit yourself. Time to find Wife 2.0.:razz:
On a slightly more serious note, it would be good to show us your current setup and how it ‘limits’ her. Is she using the computer as well? What kind of work is she doing on it? If she uses it as a casual user (i.e. Facebook, Skype, websurfing), I would get her iPad. In addition, it also depends on your room constraints. If that’s not an issue, think about setting up your ‘workstation’ and hers.

Thank you guys, great advices! I can easily put away and ‘‘hide’’ stick and hotas and tir , while i have no place to hide the rudder pedals… that’s why i start thinking about a twist stick (z axis i mean), my idea is keep the warthog hotas and look for a good stick with rudder.
Searching the web i found mixed up reviews over saitek sticks, and sparse info over Vkb sticks, no idea about other solutions. -
And thats why i hardly fly .
Wives are great but they dont mix with sims (generally speaking ofcorse)
They will never get this hobby just like i will never get the need to clean the house every 3 days -

Do clean the house with her every week (we do it once a week) and i’m quite sure she will let you enjoy any hobby you want
it works for me
Some smarter than me will hire a maid, but i’m telling you it’s not going to work. It’s all a question of sharing. If you share workload, she will share in return and let you hobbydiavolaccio,
here’s maybe a solution for you if you really need to get rid of your rudder. Don’t replace your Hotas with a twist cheap joystick.
Just discard the rudder, stow it away and program the rudder left and right on the radioswitch of the throttle for instance (any button that suits you will work)
let’s face it, you don’t really need a rudder often in flight; so it’s not like a rudder is used extensively in BMS except on the ground. so if you can live with that compromise you can keep your hi quality Hotas -

Appeasing She Who Must Be Obeyed is an essential part of life and helps with the positive flow of energy around the house. That, or return to being single. Personally, I like having my meals delivered in-flight
As for the rudder, it will be UNDER your desk so not much point in hiding it, unless you spray-painted it some neon pink or something. Saitek Pro Flights should be enough for BMS work.

Wives are great
Sorry, lost me there.
no idea about other solutions.
I got tired of having my pedals under the desk and finding somewhere to put them when not flying so I’ve been flying without pedals entirely. Couple the rudder to the stick when there is weight on wheels so you can turn on the ground. This is obviously removing the ability to actually apply rudder in flight, but honestly I haven’t missed it at all in the F-16. Other aircraft are different and might need a rudder. But when flying the Viper it’s fine, at least for me.
I see a few others have made the same suggestions, so…
+1

Rudders are required IMHO, especially here…
(skip to 6 min 50 seconds to avoid all the boring stuff) -

…surely not ANY hobby, RD…though I have encountered such. On occasion…
-
still wandering what the space the rudder is using now would be used for when the rudder is gone…
But… what if you would attach it to a wall that might be (and probably is) behind your desk?
Just a ledge or a couple of screws would do… -
I do something like this…I built a desk from a tubular keyboard stand, and I have a treadle bar underneath the desk that I have my Saitek pedals attached to. I have to lift my feet off the floor to put them on the pedals, otherwise the pedals are simply out of the way but always in place.

You’re a bad man. He might have invested a lot in his current model and not want to lose that … he might even be quite fond of her
