Anybody tried this afterburner detent?
-
Was thinking about ordering a couple but not sure if anyone has tried them.
Want to shave it down for a bump instead of a lift required.https://www.shapeways.com/product/VL6QM4JWK/warthog-throttle-part?optionId=60879173

Is it better than the one that comes with the throttle? Just wondering.

Hey TxMtb, Scotters tried the shapeways product line for the throttle detent, fit perfect no problems, the hot link you gave is not working you can order and complete the form but it locks up after payment option. I just googled the site had no problem ordering the detent. With that in mind I took my dremmal tool and a sanding head and filed down the portion that makes you lift the throttle up and over for burnner, now I have a nice and smooth movement to AB with a slight push. I love it so much I order one more just in case. took about 7 days to get it, lots of Thrustmaster WH buttons on the site The Sim HQ forum on how to modify the detent is good but for 7 dollars you can get a detent from shapeways and mod it and keep the original detent if you every want to sell your hog, also you don’t void the warranty.

Thanks WeakLink, was going to follow up on this in the next few weeks.
Ordered 2 of them last week so waiting for them to come in and mod one of them. -
Hey TxMTb just got my delivery from them one week from order to delivery. In the response I stated I used a dremmal tool with a sanding head that was not correct it is a grinning head looks like a thumb wheel on a stick. As always if you intend to modify the detent two or three strong strokes and then test for a slight hump and a light push thru to After Burnner , and make sure it is the side that stops the throttle and causes you to lift it to AB that is the side you need to file. Check DCS World for WH throttles or detent not sure of the search statement needed, it shows the mod using the toothpicks with glue U can get an idea as to which side you need to file down. Forums » English » DCS World Topics » Input and Output » Warthog AB detent - Push through mod? { Bottom of page 2} took me ten minutes to do mod five of the minutes looking for the grinning head LOL.

I’d seen the toothpick one on that site and some of the other ideas.
Easy to experiment now with cheap replacements available. -

I’ve just ordered 2 of these also. Could you possible post some pics showing what parts to sand or a perhaps a link that shows in detail what parts to sand and how much to take off.
Thanks

Mine came in earlier this week, 1 white, 1 black. Not sure of the difference in materials but the white seems to have a smoother finish. The original TM one is the far back one.
The curved part to the left is the AB Detent, more visible on the white one.
Here’s another shot from head on that shows the difference in the height of the detent. Notice the original in the back and the black one in the middle.
Here’s the TM original installed. Look directly right of the small circle on the left throttle and that’s the detent stop.
Here’s the white one installed, notice the significant height difference in the detent height.
Now for the interesting part, I didn’t have to file this down at all.
It runs up against the detent and there’s a stop.
A slight push and it goes through to afterburner with a click. It seems to be the left throttle that clicks, not sure why.
Then there’s a noticeable thunk when you come out of AB.Here’s a clip of it in action.
The question now is durability as to how it will wear with time.

While interesting, I wonder why you want to push instead of lift? The original F-16 throttle requires a lift motion to go into AB, it’s only the Cougar throttle that you “push through” to go to AB.

I’m a desktop flyer so my controllers get constantly stored underneath. It tends to slide forward when lifting it.

I see…

the lifting action pretty much requires you bolt down the throttle quadrant. as it is not heavy enough (at least not my unit).
having a “disposable part” you can tweak around makes a lot of sense. cool idea!

thanks for showing this option for the WH detent. Didn’t know about it.
