Alaska Theater

Give us more, C9!
RGR!!! LOL
Had to reconfigure an entire new Rig after moving as my gaming rig went Kaput!!! Finished getting it assembled Sunday eve. But like I said before, all HDD are up and running.
Did some tiling and work on the te_new.tac, correcting airport/airbase stuff and adding new objects. Tiling lakes and that sort of stuff.
Been all over the net gather info on Alaska. There’s more town/villages now in RL, than was present when the E00/SRTM data was available back in the day.
Will post a few boring shots later after I get the dishes done….HAHA

RGR!!! LOL
Thank you, brother I look forward to seeing the screen shots…. btw super interesting about the development and growth in Alaska. I think it appeals to a lot of people who desire to live a less big city lifestyle, so much hunting, fishing, and leisure to be had in the Last Frontier!

Well I’ve been busy. Have searched through 4 sets of theater tiles to try to come up with something decent, but that didn’t work out.
So instead of dealing with cookie cutter tiles, especially coastal and river tiles like this:
I’ve decided to go full blow PR for this:
Terrain Editor Pic:
It’s a lot more work then just grabbing older already made material, but it’s well worth it.
So Airports/Airbases, Coasts, major Rivers, Lakes, Cities/Towns, and Villages will be PR. Of course there is still the 4096 tile limit but I’m not worried about that as a lot of the wilderness will be bulk tiling that will be reused over the majority of the theater.
I’m sure I’ll use every tile of the limit though!!
That’s what I’ve been up to since I got this new rig up and running. Plus adding a few objects into the theater. Adjusting the airbases to the most correct that are in the DB and making adjustments on some that need it. Later the plan is some custom stuff though, down the road.
Back to tiling!!

I definitely did NOT expect you to go that custom, that was quite the surprise!!! That is going to be something else to fly over, definitely worth it! It was going to be my wildest dreams to see this theater come to life, thanks so much for this C9, you’re the best

Very interesting - Nice Job!

OMG I just creamed myself!! That airport your working on….well that location is a village called Iguiguig. (pronounced ig-ee-og-ig) and its is 20 miles up river from me. Cloud you are working on tiles where my cabin is!! You are the man!!!
Ya don’t say….LMAO!!! I was trying to figure out a way to filter it from you, but I couldn’t!!! HAHA
This is what I’ve mapped so far from Igiugig to the Yellow push pin, which is about 10 miles:
And from the push pin to the(Your!! LOL) lodge is about another 10 miles:
Once I get that done, then the No See Um Lodge shall arise right there on the Kvichak River!! Hopefully will have it done tomorrow, maybe.
Cheers!!

Moonshine…?

Moonshine…?
Are you kidding? The guy live in a State that makes some of the best bourbon. Moonshine tastes like rubbing alcohol.
But I’m sure he would rather have a beer…especially when someone else is buying!

Dang, didn’t even see Redshirt20’s post!!
wray79, its coming along. Still assembling terrain tiles and tiling.
Took a break for a bit to help some guys get another theater running but that’s for the most part done on my end, although I need to check in with them.
So back on Alaska now this past week.
Won’t post any pics as its not that exciting as of yet, but will when I get a significant portion completed here in the coming weeks.
So stay tune and check back.
