Falcon bms.cfg moddified to earn fps

@Cloud:
Incorrect!!
The file is read and executed in entirety and order. So, if there is a duplicate entry, the LAST entry is executed whether the setting is the same or different.
Try it yourself. Go into your config file and have your set g_bPrettyScreenShot 0 set to that variable. Which is normal screen shot with overlays.
Then add the entry g_bPrettyScreenShot 1 at the end of the file, which is pretty screenshot, no overlays.
Make sure you have Show Infobar selected in Setup>Simulation
It will read the last entry and you will have a pretty screenshot!!!
Sheesh!!

I tried it in the past and that was the case. IIRC a dev also answered a question I made about it here in the forum.

Then you did something wrong. Like I said, try what I posted and you will see what is correct.

would the RTTRemote software work in that setting?

What does that have to do with anything here? Nothing!! No need to answer. This is a case of you made an incorrect statement and I posted that it is not correct and also posted a simple way for you to verify what I posted. Which you are resisting for some reason to see the truth.

The file is read and executed in entirety and order. So, if there is a duplicate entry, the LAST entry is executed whether the setting is the same or different. That statement is absolutely 100% correct. I wouldn’t have posted it if it wasn’t.
The code finds reads and executes the first only.
Not sure why you’re attempting to jump around the fact that your statement is incorrect.
Or the fact that you want to seem to drag this on without checking and verifying the fact!

Added it to the hotlist.

I would suggest that you remove the link to your cfg file in the first post and maybe add the specific line as it is right now and as it should be to gain the fps.
That way the user will have to only copy paste the line and replace the one in cfg or just alter the value from 1 to zero which is the most correct thing to do.
If he copy paste the line at the end he will not do anything. The code finds reads and executes the first only.
Copy sir!!!

Correct answer move on past GO and collect your $200.
I tried it in the past and that was the case. IIRC a dev also answered a question I made about it here in the forum.
Incorrect, “Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200”
:munch:
Just change the value of Line 116 to 0 if you don’t MFDExtractor
PS: Personally I get a 1-2% FPS benefit from Shared Memory Disabled. So its a setting for people with weak systems.

I am doing tonight some tests on new install with all Janhas models and well, per vertex it’s 10 fps more in taxi, I miss taxi lights but I can live without (ati gpu)
Should be great have some slides to control shadows and lights effects in the future instead on/off…. ( ? )
Don’t know if it’s the right thread to answer but just curious : is there any impact in relation between shadows and 3d model with high poyls number? is this calculate in the engine?cheers

my settings are at 100% with per vertex checked, no other changes in config, I am trying to maintain the best quality I can with a 4k monitor.

Holy smokes. It works! Huge difference. Thanks.
-
thanks for that config hint. I did as well gain like 20 FPS, from 79 up to 99/100 in the same test scenario (Navigation Training Mission 2560x1440res).
Again are there any gfx drawbacks when disabling this? from my first tests I didn’t notice any visual difference.

hmmm where is RedDog we where having a conversation about MFD extraction and if it had any impact on fps etc IIRC… it was in the mfd cougar monitors thread… right? and about the resolution of the mfd display and if it has any impact etc… seems that the impact is here actually on the source generating the whole thing and not the actual image that passes through to the monitor.

Yeap just tested it and it reads the last line if duplicate exists.
When I had done it accidentally in 4.32 cause the f4patch was injecting the text and I forgot to set to erase or alter the default value it was reading the first - default line. I’m sure about it cause we had a minor issue in mp in my squad with online squadron check for unified setups.
And I remember i tested the behavior… probably I remember wrongly… but anyway what matters is how it works now. Thanks for correcting me and clarifying this C9.

I heard he was busy writing manuals for 4.34 and doesn’t have time for petty “told you so” threads…
