Tankers

Is there Tankers available in this theater?
-
From a DB standpoint, boom tankers yes/working, drogue tankers yes/not working. In my opinion until probe/drogue is fully functional, we should not try to use them. I hope this will be fixed in a future BMS.exe.

Realistically, KC10 shouldn’t fly in the vintage campaigns (entered in 1981).
-
Good point this yours, dear Lorik.
But what about K-135s, then?
And ah, I was to forget that: I’ve tested all the tankers. And they do their work - until now, at least, and if asked kindly for that :lol:With best regards,
-
Yep sometimes we get stuck with the working model for certain jobs. I know their were tankers in the 70s for carrier ops it was often the ka6 and other converted cargo and bomber planes. When drogue tankers get to functioning properly, there will be ka6 and kc135 and others but until then…
The boom tankers do work on drogue nozzled planes. As Gianni said that’s been tested with a4, f4, and a6, and f6 lightning and f35 , and av8 variants at least , and it works in bms although it wouldn’t in real world, this is what we have for now.

Ned,
KC-135 is a boom tanker, not a drogue one ;).

So we could use it vintage since it was first used in th 50’s ! Sorry I was confused with kc130.
-
Not true. It can be configured with a basket on the end of the book or with MIPR pods. I’ve refueled off of a 135 in both configurations.
-
You mean in real world? Or BMS.
Because when I looked it up to check date I saw a basket catching a probe off what might have been a tornado( to blurry to tell)
In bms we made a couple efforts to change the boom in Nordic but no success worth keeping so far.
So we have only boom on kc135 in bms although it goes both ways in reality, is this right?

It is nice to not confuse people.
The fact that KC-135 can be configured with a basket also (that is correct) to serve as a probe-and-drogue, doesn’t mean that its original configuration/creation is not a boom air refueler tanker!
You already mention this: “It can be configured”, that means that is NOT neutral this way.

well the good news is, we just put the kc135 in vintage camps. it does not work from off map bases but works well from Bodo. range may be the off map issue, will look into this prob later.

Ned, why don’t you place them (KC-135) at Bardufoss airbase? More close to the front line operations. Also Bardufoss aibase is used at all 3 campaigns ;).
Nikos. -
alrighty Nikos, we will test it out on bardufoss. if it functions well, we will leave it there.
-
There’s really no confusion about it. Yes it is naturally a boom tanker, but it is often configured to be prove and drogue friendly. As I said, I have executed both in real life. The probe and drogue config is not unusual. It is frequently used.

Or (my thought: please don’t take it bad, dear Nikos) it would be more wise to locate them a little away… just to avoid they’ll become suddenly valuable food for MiGs and Sukhoi of any kind because they are HAV targets, I mean
With best regards to all,

Kc135 can work well (get tasked flights), ( take off and land) from bodo.
Bardufoss does catch a lot of action from enemies. If not protected well , it’s lost in sky fox based camps. Also I might be able to fix (tweak) it’s off map capabilities. Still haven’t looked at why it won’t work off map.
It will be working in the vintage camps pre '81 . The main point being to replace kc10 in wrong time frame.
-
It’s a big 'thumbs up!" to you now, Ned - even if, not to be a damn criticist, also Bodo was a main primary target for USSR AF and Navy at the Cold War age…
Oh well, let anyone do his best, go to hell all the rest
With best regards to all you brothers,
Gianni.
