Hi,
thanks for your work, do you think it is possible to add the Nordic Theater in your database, or know the custom values ?

For the Nordic theater I used custom N63 to N71 and E11 to E34.

71N cuts off the top of the land, it’s 72N

Could someone elaborate a bit more how to load the weather generated files of a saved campaign .cam?
I mean, I have a bunch of fmaps in weather update folder. When the campaign starts I click weather update, I load the first fmap and everything is ok. Then I fly a mission and save the campaign. The next time I load this saved campaign, do I have to load again a specific fmap file or is it done automatically?

whichever u want. first file in the GFS list is the latest IIRC. so it takes from that time and after it.
The weather model will have forecast for days to come.
The saved sequence files have the format of xyyzz.fmap
x=day 1to17 day one is the day you selected from GFS.
yy=hour
zz=minutesSo you want the weather for tomorrow at 20:00 and downloaded 7/12/2016 GFS file.
if you want one only and let falcon do the job of weather thus having only one starting point you just copy paste the file to save folder and load it.
If u want the sequence copy the first u want to save and all the rest to the weather folder inside save folder.
Now if u want the weather from day 3 and forward then place the time marker from F4Wx to the starting time point you want and select Save from Current position.
but this will have you to wait for day 3 as you fly to kick in.
So if u want days 3 weather in your flight you must rename those files from 3xxxx.fmap to 1xxxx.fmap also time is important if your flight is at 0800 and the weather starts at 1000 then you must fly for 2 hours. Not 100% sure here maybe falcon loads from the initial file and projects that weather until 1000 and then play along with the weather. This would be a nice feature ahmed. Like the point i have the time marker I want it to be same as initial time.
So example: at the marker I’m at day 4 7:00 and my initial time set to 01 09:00 select save from current position and a new tickmark save as day one. It will start saving from 10900.fmap and forward according to the forecast to generate time in minutes.I would like to know more about the sync with real timezone.
My time zone is GMT+1 the weather I downloaded is GMT+9
I fly at Korea theater. This means it has GMT+9? of Falcon GMT is irrelevant and only relevance is between my real local time and the downloaded real time?
So should I select sync in case at my time 20:00 (GMT+1) I want to fly the Korea weather at 20:00 (GMT+9) or not? And it syncs which clock Falcon clock or my computer - system clock?hmmm

Hello guys, quick update as I see a lot of questions and requests with no news from me in a long time.
I’m basically quite disconnected from the simming community at the moment as basically the summer is the busiest working season for me and also of course I like to enjoy the awesome summer weather here in Spain the little free time I get!
I’m still planning on releasing that promised update to the latest internal beta I had that already included some of the features requested in the last few pages of the thread.
I see there are a few theaters around. In order to add those to that update I make a call to the theater developers to send me via pm the latitude/longitude boundaries of the theater plus a TerrainView exported image of the theater for compatibility with the already included ones.
As the last version was released in the winter and I was expecting to update it before the summer, the timezone sync does not take into account DST, so for those theaters affected, if you want to correct it manually, you can select the “custom” theater and adjust the pre-set non-DST timezone in there.
Regarding the warning icon on the timezone sync option, that icon only shows when there is not enough weather forecast downloaded to apply the settings you have selected. If you select to download more hours of weather it should clear up.
I hope you all keep enjoying F4Wx and I hope I can deliver that update soon enough

I can’t seem to get the map files to come up in the wx screen. I’ve followed all the steps arty listed and saved the fmaps in my campaign wx folder but they do not show up in the sim. Any ideas?

I works here for Balkans, ooob.
But… which maps, Single .fmap(s) or the incremental xyyzz.fmap(s) ?
Single are stored in ./campaign/save dir for (Korea) default theatre, but incremental are stored in maps subdir ./campaign/save/Weathermapsupdates . And yes you cant see them in BMS, but they should autoload if weather is set to do so… cant miss the switch (box).
Check the correct directory?
Was that the problem?
-
Think I got it figured out. So I downloaded the incremental weather and put it in the maps updates folder. Selected maps auto update. The weather manager now just states auto save map loaded. Is this correct?

Hi,
I was useing this software with good output up to now but today, when I tried to download the weather to be applied at our Monday’s Mission, I noted that, although the wind and pressure are correct, the cloud coverage is …. nothing
You can compare the data from the video.
I stopped just a moment the animation on F4Wx at 21:30, which is the time of zyGrib picture, just to give you the two pictures of the situation.
Any idea about this? Thanks for your support.
Kind regards
HawkEDIT 16oct2017
I checked on different web sites about today’s weather and over Mostar (our concerned area) the layer of clouds is at about 33.000 ft.
No clouds below, at medium or low altitude; visibility about 20nm.
I presume this is an altitude which in Falcon concerns only few flights and not the 99% of operations.
So, maybe, the developper made a filter within the software to avoid non necessary informations….maybe.

Works ok on 64bit.@Jackal you select where to save the file or files according to your selection. So I would select to save them directly to falcon folders.
If u create one file only save it in
C:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Data\Campaign\Saveif u create a sequence
select to save here: C:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Data\Campaign\Save\WeatherMapsUpdatesand then move the first file here:
C:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Data\Campaign\SaveOK–got that, but from where do i need to move needed files?
-
From where u select to save it by using this software.
-
Ok.got that…but still struggling with
Time between files
Forecast to generate
are these only used for saving filesand these are for downloadiing?
Download forecast
Download intervalAnd what are GFS last two digits 00, 06, 12, 18 presenting, or tthe whole number 2017101512 ?
-
The number is a date 2017/10/15 the last 2 digits are the time, forecast are issued with validity starting at 0000, 0600, 1200 and 1800
-
Ok.got that…but still struggling with
Time between files ====> files will be generated according to the interval you’ll set: any 15min, any 30 min, etc.
Forecast to generate ======> how much longer do you want the files to be generated? for the next 24 hours, 36 hours, 2 hours , etc.
are these only used for saving filesand these are for downloadiing? ======> then the generated fmap files will be saved into the directory you’ll choose for the use, later, within campaign / save directory and weathermapsupdates folder
Download forecast
Download intervalAnd what are GFS last two digits 00, 06, 12, 18 presenting, or tthe whole number 2017101512 ?

Any Tutorial how to load a .grb file directly from zgrib or any other online source?
I can´t load the file, nothing happens. What i´m doing wrong?
-
Think you’re doing nothing wrong… there may be a bug when loading offline file. I’ve tried also but no success.
Well, no big deal to me, just download next forecast and enjoy

The anwer is on the Q&A section of the first post
Q: Can I load GRIB version 1 files or can use old zyGrib files that I used on Grb2Fmap? A: As of this version GRIB 1 files downloaded from zyGrib don't work on F4Wx. Use GRIB 2 downloaded from within the application or saved from NOAA NOMADS server
So, the only local files that you can load at the moment are GRIB2 downloaded from the NOMADS server (or other source containing the same data/format)
On another note, still thinking on releasing an update, but to be honest there are not many new things in such an update other than fixing a small bug with the timezone sync option, being able to save the preview images, and adding the newly released theaters into the presets list, so I have been working on other projects instead of F4Wx lately. In any case, I’ll release a new update addressing the above issues “soon”
