Window Mode

5 screens, you probably don’t need to ALT-TAB, but you should see why. Not during a mission, where you’re supposed to have your datacard and charts around, but during the mission preparation and the briefing. BMS is open is these times, too.
Gas: Funny, I made a row of icons too

Yeah, why do I need to ask if I can just imagine? Duh…
Some of these make sense, others don’t. Do you really need to access Chrome, weather, weather commander, mission commander, youtube, etc. DURING a mission?
No. I do play in windowed mode, but don’t have to alt-tab. My setup helps a lot in that I have 5 screens, so combined with my Helios profile, everything is just a click away.
They make perfect sense. I use them all the time while in the 2d. If you run fullscreen mode Alt tabbing from 2d/3d can cause a crash.
I never said I used them all during a mission, mostly just the ones like maps & NAVAIDs.
I guess the term “Alt-tab” may have confused you. Windowed is also good in 2d because you can click other windows and do stuff. -

Indeed, in 2D or mission planning phase, these all make sense.

Just tried the windows zoom tool… man that is clunky. zooms in too far Lol I hate it.
Sorry that it doesn’t work out for you. For me I just center my cursor on the UI map, hit the window key and + about 4 time and get the perfect amount of zoom for making a mission.
-
ahh neat, I didn’t know about that shortcut. It zooms in a little too far and if I go too close to the edge it scrolls away… Also, prefer for my second screen to remain the same resolution/zoom level. To each their own.
I wish the 2d screen could simply be dragged or resized.

Kerfuffle’s problem is not actually that the 2d is small….
His 3D game is also small for some reason. When he loads into 3D it is the same size as the 2D UII told him to use these settings but he says it didn’t work.

It’s called task switching in the Microsoft parlance. Alt-tab is just the keyboard shortcut to task switch. Clicking another window is task switching via mouse control.
I absolutely fly windowed-2D and equal to screen size windowed 3D. If your native resolution isn’t too much bigger than the hardcoded UI then I suggest just living with a fractional UI. Playing the windowed UI on a 4K screen would be impractical. I just tried to find the right magnifier utility to effectively stretch the UI out to whatever size you want but of the couple I tried it wasn’t that good. I’m sure there is some utility out there somewhere that does this nicely but needles in haystacks.

If only Alt+Tabing at full-screen 2D UI won’t result in BMS crash and explorer.exe collapsing……

One maybe functional idea could be to always be in window mode state but have 2 states.
One state what we know now as window mode.
Second one named full screen but:
A. In the UI to zoom to native resolution and occupy full center monitor. Maybe a combo box needed in the UI to select center monitor resolution, or even which is the center monitor.
B. In 3d world adopt gfx setting and occupy the whole desktop area.
Fixed top corner. No border. Not resizable.
So task switching will always work and everyone will be happy.Needs code actually for the UI.

In my window mode the interface works but it does not load to 3d. does anyone know anything better?
