Okay, I was asking because I saw the FFD tab selected on your 3DSMax so I was wondering about it. Thank you for your answer.
I understand your struggle by coming from a parametrized CAD software ahah, but you seem to be doing well on Max now ! -

I understand your struggle by coming from a parametrized CAD software ahah, but you seem to be doing well on Max now !Really? I think editable poly tab is selected but ok! Thanks for your kind words. I wouldnt say that i struggle, but definatelly i learning a lot of stuff on the way and finding solutions around in the net, and that might make me re-do things as i might find a better way. As i did with F-5. First attempt was ok but not what i wanted then i re did the whole thing. Though it took me a lot shorter time re doing it cause i allready learned by my mistakes! For example now in the Gripen im trying to find the best way to get the shape of the merging of the wing with the fuselage as best as i can without leaving too big corners as in the real thing is smooth… Eventually ill get it right i guess…
-
Just a test export as i always do to check how it looks in ogglod… Its ok but something i dont like in the merging of the wing with the fuselage though in the 1st post picture is even more off. I think it needs to be a bit more smooth, but who am i to say? Might be not so wrong anyway, in many photos you can see a “line” there but the thing is i think in the model here needs to be a bit more up on height but then i dont like it either it seems too much to my eyes…
Suggestions people?
Edit: sometimes it is needed to work (as i learn on the way) as Radium said in an other thread with single polygons. I do lately a lot, correcting things or even make new where they have to be and they are not. Sometimes even with vertexes to 100% align something with something else… Tiresome but exciting at the same time

Looks real nice so far!

Here you can see how the fuselage what a slender

I managed to fix the smoothness between the wing and the fuselage, I had to work in faces and vertexes individually but it seems ok to my eye at least. Theres no connection line anymore between them. Still a lot to do….
-
Some more details added… actually part of the splitterplates and the intake. As i said the progress is gonna be kinda slow. I wanna be detailed in every aspect i can also i finishing up other projects so stick around…
-
Looking good!!!

-
Wow…that’s a workout!
…here’s the reverse angle -
And why a REAL fighter pilot would just kick/hammer/annihilate any of us out of the sky in a RL fight!
-
Some progress… I managed to work a bit on the model just now. Being working at real work 14+ hours isnt good for my apetite for 3d modelling… And today also it seems i will have a hard night at work as well
Anyway just enjoy…
And 1st test shot in game

Coming along nicely!

I wanted to ask the Canard are independent? I mean they move each one seperately or both together? Anyone can give some info on this?
EDIT: Most of the videos i saw they show like moving together… And on reverse than a horizontal stabilizer does… Meaning going up they rotate upwards not downwards…
-
They are not independent in movement…

True for take-off and landing configuration. For “gear up” and “non-low speed” situations the movement of canards a lot more resembles what LEFs do on F-16.
-
-
I was thinking to rig them with reversed dof of stabilizer… but you think would be more realistic if they where in LEF dof? In Nordic i think is the way im thinking… i will research a bit more…
-
Take a look at the Viggen. I haven’t worked on her in a long while, but it may give you some clues on how to handle the canards.

Added more details. Around 13k and something tris right now the whole model. I might re-do some things more “light” cause still i havent added Pilot/Wheels/Pylons and lights (and probably optimize some a bit) and this i know will add up in tri count. So what i added was the wingtip pylons, the gun pod, the Cockpit tub, the HUD, the exaust sytem (inner and outer) and the “seperator” in the canopy glass (i dont know how its called. As i said RL work is hard this period and its hard for me to dtay focused and have the mental strength to work as i want but whenever i do work i try to be good or ok… Enjoy…
PS. 3 days now and i allready have more than 10 overhours in work… and this is exasuting me…Again ill thank Repvez for giving me his Grippen… It helped me a lot
