WIP: F-14 B/D

Well we all certainly appreciate it, it’s going to be amazing.
Thanks dude. I hope it will be…I have this vision in my head of a scene slowly fading into view through the eyes of a RIO looking back at the vertical tails engulfed in vapor and vibrating during takeoff going into vertical climb and then cutting to an external profile shot showing the gear retracting in a realistic fashion (meaning slowly) into the compartment and doors closing with the AB fully lighting up in a dusk setting with this playing in the background:
Epicness.

This could also be a nice background sound

:blowpar:

I can’t wait to dance with an Iranian Tomcat though.
-
Good old times, good old music, legendary fighter jets! Not this stealth stuff , real fighter jets.

-
Thanks Stingray! Beautiful work and I hope you have a great 2018!

Happy New Year Tomcat lovers!!!

Frankly, if the accounts in Osprey’s publication on F-14s in the Iran-Iraq war are accurate, I’d love to fly an Iranian bird in that setting. I’m sure by the time someone puts that theater together, Stingray will have the F-14A in working order.
Awesome stuff, guys.

The Persian Cats are something else no doubt - I read that book as well and if you read some of Saddam Hussein’s biographies in conjunction with some other stuff the numbers pretty much add up with what Cooper and the other cat put together in that book.
As for the model I caught that pun - well deserved :). Let’s just say when the D is done converting it to A-spec would involve:
- beaver tail
- engines/exhaust nozzles
- some antennas
- glove vanes
- engine shroud
- upper aft fuselage
- air ducts and gunports on front fuselage
…aaaand the pit :).
Either way no biggies - less than 20hrs.

THAT! 1997 VF-103, that AC in regular deployment trim looks even better…one of my all time favs:
This being a very close second:
Low-vis 2000/2001 VF-103 Victory-111 w/ SecDef Phoenix and Clifton Awards.

Happy New Year to you. What a beautifull plane you have made :woohoo:

Hehe. If you can pull something like that off in 20hrs, I’d call you amazing.
A really cool aviation blog by the name of “The Boresight” has some cool articles on Iranian F-14s - you might need to do a bit of scrolling to find them:

Hope the year continues to find you well @stingray_SIX_TWO
