Starting with Falcon 4 BMS 4.33 Update 3
-
If I buy the original Falcon on steam and installed it after I setup the BMS until U3 patch. Can I start the BMS under Steam?
Because now I can just start the original .
It is possible to install the future patch via Steam? -
Better to use another source for falcon original instead of steam so that you are independent of steam for bms. BMS and BMS updates/patches are not installed using steam.
-
thx the quick reply. unfortunately I only can buy on steam .So It had have been more comfortable if the total program work on that page.
-
You should still be able to run BMS even with the Steam version of Falcon…… but you DO NOT run BMS via Steam.
Steam –- only for Falcon 4.0 if you want to play that for some reason. Steam has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with BMS except to install Falcon 4.0 in your PC as a requirement of BMS.
BMS should have added some icons to your desktop when you installed it. Run BMS through that.
-
Yes I know, just If I able to run via steam, it could be work in VR , because the Trinus VR app can emulate in VIVE so every game can run in VR what is in steam library.
Or just could the original exe place change to BMS exe on steam ?

You must be confused. BMS has absolutely nothing to do with Steam and vice versa. BMS does not touch the Falcon 4.0 install files that Steam puts in your computer, and Falcon 4.0 does not touch the BMS install files at all. The two programs (BMS and F4.0) are two separate entities. The only reason you have to have Falcon 4.0 installed in your PC is because of licensing requirements (not sure if that’s the 100% correct term) between Tommo and BMS.

A quick guide for those who are confused about downloading the .torrents –- I did not think of making this guide as I thought everyone knew how to work with .torrents but apparently this is not the case for a few new BMS users.
Simply put, a .torrent is a file that contains information which is useless without the appropriate program. You load up the .torrent file in a program such as qBitTorrent mentioned above and the program “reads” the file and downloads setup files needed for BMS installation. People have expressed issues of downloading stuff via torrent and some of it is justified –- if you download your .torrent file from shady locations, what do you expect? Therefore, download the BMS files via the official BMS forum posts by Dunc and you should have nothing to worry about.
Here are those pages again:
Base + U1 Installer
Update 2 Installer
Update 3 Installer
Update 4 Installer1. Go to the relevant page, in this example for the Base + U1 Installer
2. Click on the .torrent file link. A pop-up window should appear and you should be able to select qBittorrent to open the file
3. Success!! Wait for the files to finish downloading and you should be ready to follow the instructions laid out above!
4. To find your finished files, right-click on the name… for example Falcon_BMS_4.33_U2_Incremental.exe on the top window, then select Open destination folder and it will open the folder where the files are located
5. If you simply downloaded the .torrent file (by clicking on the Save File option instead of the Open with option), that .torrent file is useless for our needs. 15KB is obviously nowhere near the 1.39GB of data needed for the Base + U1 Installer
Right-click on that .torrent file, select Open with, and there should be a qBittorrent option. If there isn’t, then click on Choose another app and find your qBittorrent install
Hopefully, qBitTorrent will be in the list in this window, if not, click on Look for another app on this PC
Navigate to where qBitTorrent is installed, which by default is your C:\Program Files (x86)\qBittorrent directory. Select the qbittorrent.exe, click Open, and you should be good to go!
I hope this provides enough information for those new to .torrent files! Enjoy!

This is a great installation guide. Another request to the forum moderators… place a link to this original post on the home page.

Well, after downloading and unpacking U1 and U2, I thought I was up to date. Then, someone asked me to install U3 and U4. Realized that I did something wrong and was in fact running U1. So, uninstall wrong at first, the correct, then finally installed correctly.
Lesson: read first the installation posts, then config, only then play. -
Hello, just started with Falcon BMS. So excited to begin flying this beautiful aircraft. Regards to all.

I’m going to be doing the Falcon dance in the next day or so. I have read that Falcon 4.0 can be on my HD and the BMS can be on my SSD. Is this still so? Does the 7-Zip and qBit Torrent need to be on the SSD that I will have the BMS installers?
I have another SSD that I’m just trying to keep the OS on.
TIA
-
7Zip and your torrent program can be anywhere you like.

Hi, I hope this is in the correct place on the forum, apologies if not…
I’ve messed up when trying to download the BMS F4 updates, somehow managing to set the program as IE and not qBitTorrent as intended! And now for the life of me I can’t figure out how to change it…please help!
I’m running Windows 10 for my sins btw.
Thanks in advance.

Are you saying you associated the file with IE and not qBitTorrent??
If that’s the case, then right click on the file, go to Properties at the bottom.
In the Properties box there is an “Opens With” entry that has a Change button to the right. Click on the Change button and navigate to your qBitTorrent program and click on it to associate it with it!!

Exactly, and that’s it sorted thankyou - daft thing to do and a daft question but thanks for your help
I’m running the installation now, been on the first screen (U1 setup, showing DirectXJune2010 as the current file) for a good 5 minutes with no sign of the box turning green - has it crashed do you think?

I believe you are looking at the extractor.
Close the window and go to the folder it created, then launch the setup.exe. -
Nope, I came out of the extractor, clicked install (following the comprehensive instructions from Ice’s post) and it’s stuck…I can use task manager to close it but that’s it
-
Maybe right click on the installer and run in admin mode ?
-
Trying that now bud. It’s installed it, because when I tried to install it now it gives me the option of uninstalling it…I’ll let you know how this goes
EDIT: same problem, and it’s not giving me the option to put shortcuts on my desktop either so I can’t even load the game
