The file is updated and fixed on same link:
4096^2 texture: http://www.mediafire.com/file/y616l5vi5f4qg6h/main_group.7zThe fix is for the lighted border - transparent area of the smoke effect named: smoke_white2. It must look better now specially at night.
just in case u want the particlesys.ini link again. (not needed - no changes if u have it):
particlesys.ini file for 4096^2 texture: http://www.mediafire.com/file/ztn90uj2hunslps/particlesys.inihave fun.
Waiting for reports - bugs - proposals… whatever.
Edit: PPPppsssssstttt… serious proposals… must have 3 ferrari’s half stocks of Microsoft… A castle in Scotland at the Highlands. Or even better all the Highlands…and so on and so forth…

thank´s

Even though the downloads are few I see more downloads on the texture than at the ini file.
If u take only the texture file without the ini things will look extra fubared.Just to let you know in case u got just the texture and wonder why it looks so ugly.
Until any further notice or report I’ll consider it a done task for me and will revert back to my metal family of the M-109… enough with 2D let’s do 3D.
Feel free to use it at your discretion, do whatever u want with it, put it wherever u want, whenever, for whomever, and whatever as long as it’s for Falcon BMS use only.
No credits needed please. Just use it.If u want the PSD file just ask… cause it might take me a while to clear things on the layers naming. Main used layers are named after the effects names as they are declared in the particle sys ini file, and the PSD is already uploaded and waiting. So u r warned.
Have in mind that if u delete the particlesys.ini file it auto regenerates to the stock file for the 2048^2 texture. So u r warned, don’t ask for ur money back. I’ll not give’em back.
Cary on…

Hi mate, congratulations on this, really really nice results!
just one question: previous version was saved in DXT5 format, but this one is in DXT3.
Is it meant to be like this?
Keep it up, I’m loving it

Thank you Nuno…
hmmm… that’s my mistake.
damn.
Sorry for the mishap…
I worked on it on the mac at work and I converted it at dds at home and didn’t notice the dds settings.I saw it as a dds with ddsviewer and the transition of transparency didn’t look that smooth, when I full zoomed in to details, at me but I said heck… this is it… didn’t wonder to notice the DX number. It was the first time looking at it with ddsviewer.
Oldfarts… pssst what do u expect from them?
Good eye and mind Nuno…

Arty,
thanks for spending your time with this, no FPS hit I’ve noticed on my rig & it looks great btw,is there a way to make the smoke effects last a bit longer as they disappears after only a few seconds?

How can I apply this on Balkans? I don’t see a particle sys in Balkans specifically. If I add it manually it doesn’t seem to work.

See screenshot:
In folders of balkans
1. C:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Data*Add-On balkans*\Terrdata\misctex
2. C:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Data*Add-On balkans*\Terrdataplace accordingly:
1. 4096^2 texture: http://www.mediafire.com/file/y616l5vi5f4qg6h/main_group.7z
2. particlesys.ini file for 4096^2 texture: http://www.mediafire.com/file/ztn90uj2hunslps/particlesys.iniSorry I ain’t sure if the balkans folder is named
Add-On balkans
or
balkans
or whatever go to the correct folder.Else place them to
1. C:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Data\Terrdata\misctex
2. C:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Data\Terrdatawhich is for Korea and is the correct default particle sys folders.
In my case for IKAROS I placed it on both folders and ain’t sure from which folder it reads it.
Sorry ain’t at home pc right now. Maybe someone else can verify this.

Well, I did the first in the beginning:
overwrite .dds in Data\Add-On balkans\Terrdata\misctex & add .ini in Data\Add-On balkans\Terrdata
But that gave me the result of the screenshot in my previous post.So then I thought maybe Balkans also uses the .ini in the main folder because there wasn’t one to replace in the Data\Add-On balkans\Terrdata. So I replaced the .ini in Data\Terrdata too, but the result remains the same.

Place and the texture in
C:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Data\Terrdata\misctex
and u should be fine.

Hmm, works ok in KTO, now BMS crashes each time I load Balkans.
-
Just erase the 2 files u put in Balkans folder. It might need the old texture back. Hope u kept a backup.
But really strange behaviour. There must be something strange in your setup.Anyone else having trouble using it on other than Korea theater?
Ostsee looks ok. IKAROS and Korea is tested by me.
Strange.Στάλθηκε από το MI 5 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk

Arty,
my little own experience is this: I’ve put them in all the theaters I got in my installation (Balkans, Ikaros, Nordic, OstSee, ITO, …), and no issues to report about.
Hope it might help anyone, if not you.
With best regards,

I did delete everything and put back backups of the dds and ini file but Balkans kept acting weird (crash when exit, crash on entering 3D and load out screen broken).
Deinstalled & reinstalled Balkans now. Will try the new dds & ini file again now and report back.Arty,

Jackal,
Do you place the ini file also in the other theaters folders? Or only overwrite the dds?
-
Try it m8 sorry didn’t had time. But guys that tested in IKAROS had no issues.

Yesterday just tried in Balkan v3.6 and everything looking ok.
-
Hmm, tried in KTO and get significant larger smoke plumes that also last a lot longer, so I assume it works there correctly.
I then tried Balkans without alteration, no visible change. Then I added only the dds, still no change. Then I added the ini in Balkans folder too, still no change. Or at least nothing noticeable, smaller and thinner smoke and lasts a lot less long then in KTO. Unless I blew up a fuel dump by accident and that is coded into BMS to burn longer? But highly doubt it -

Good morning, Focaldesign.
Well, as first let me clarify that.
- I had to install both the .dds and the .ini files in their respective locations, deleting all of them after making a safety backup folder (of course, but let me report a clear and full description, on this).
- Then, I followed nothing else than Arty’s instructions, as they are above.
- Last, I replied all this procedure for any theater where I wanted to get(or test, better) the new stuff.
- I realized soon that this should be not necessary if that specific theater referred itself, to run properly, to the general BMS terrdata folder - let you try it yourself by giving a look to the theater’s config file in its ‘theaterdefinition’ folder.
Well, after done all that I succeeded… maybe because I’m lucky in such matters. Or maybe not.
Of course, Focal, I don’t pretend to have been most clear in reporting my own little experience.
So, please always feel free to ask me anytime anything you might feel in need to know, I’ll be glad to do my wors err, wrong, my best to help you.
Just a few words more, though.
Anyway it is, having well conceived, concise and most of all clear instructions at hand helped me so much.
And thanks to you, Arty, for that - as your usual, nothing to wonder about.
With best regards to all the dear friends here,
-

Ok most probably if your typing is correct the error might be a B instead of b in the folders names.
U must put the dds texture file to the folder:
C:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Data\Add-On Balkans\Terrdata\misctexu must put the ini file in the folder:
C:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Data\Add-On Balkans\TerrdataIf u changed the folder name from
Add-On Balkans
to
Add-On balkans
then this is your problem with the theater.
If folder name is correct (Add-On Balkans) and you still have problems then something else is wrong in your setup.
Just in case I checked and the Balkans theater thread and the correct folder name is the one i wrote.
Edit: I believe you uncompressed first the file with the texture and you transferred the uncompressed main_group.dds file to the folder I mentioned.
If you deleted the main_group.dds file and you placed the main_group.7z in the folder then probably this is your problem. Falcon doesn’t find the dds file and crashes.
