Havent yet tried to unwrap it 100% Probably i will go for 2 textures or maybe 3. Its not quite reducing as majority of the model is completely new from scratch ill say maybe 80%-85%

Is it possible to reduce the textures to 1 large sheet (Can be 2048 default and 4096 for Hires folder) and 1 smaller for transparency?

First Lod Export (no dofs yet or switches) just to see how it looks in Lod viewer, Tomorrow i might get it in game to see the looks in game

tests in game to see the outcome and the look… Im quite pleased. some minor corrections/move of verts and its ready for dofing/unwrapping I hope till Saturday to finish dofing/switching her cause sunday im off for a week…
As said i will try to keep her as low as possible in tricount. I allready have exactly 30.090 Tris version but needs some welding in some parts. Also thought atleast to make her some Engine covers (maybe 4-6 tris max 10) and give some detail skin wise… About the remove befor flight hmmm i dont know… will see i saved allready in what you see at least 1000 tris by making more simple the wheels (35.5xx) Ill see dont know yet. I must count also double-sided materials (witch in game counts as double tris)

Please do your best to optimize but I think we can take 35K also as fine number, no need to kill the model to get below 30.
Also not less important (Maybe even more) is to optimize the number of textures, 1 sheet should be enough for a Fighter size AC, don’t fall please to the crazy size texturing that you may see elsewhere, this is just burning GPU time and 99% of time those super extra details won’t be noticed anyway. 1 4096 texture is more than enough, and 2048 for the default please.
Also we will need lower LODs of course. I suggest to contact Switch directly if you have any questions about the exact details.

By the way in 3ds the count is 34.991 tris (yes i saved some more!) Lodeditor (cause of double sided stuff) reads 35.224 nodes. Lod viewer 2000 more probably cause of other stuf??? anyone can explain that?

I think lower lods doesnt need wheels and stuff right or all they need is switched wheels and not doffed ones. I mean the lower Lods must be preety basic as anyway the distance for them is big and you dont really need those details. As pilots as well maybe just a bulb instead of a full figure of a pilot its gonna be fine i guess. Thats gonna make my life a lot easier if it is that way. Anyway news is that im of for a week from home. Still got my laptop with me. Its not a huge asset but at lease it runs decently 3ds max and photoshop so i guess i will make my experiment for the skining i allready have some ideas and some of them seems to work But i have to spend time and go face by face. As my good friend Radium said unwraping its a long process and it takes time. If i cant do it as i want to (as said SF2 style,flattened) then i always have the skins i have now for the current set of Phantoms witch can be easy be 2 textures (1 basic skin and 1 alpha) it wont be perfect but it will be ok plus will bemore easy as i allready have a bunch of skins! Also good thing is that i kept almost 9 different versions of the mesh while working on it and one of them as shown in the pics here in the start of this work (new model i mean) its unslatted wing witch also will made my life easy making the hardwinged EJ or early E aand last thing the majority of the parts (almost identical size) are easy changable between the current set of Phantoms and this one.
I hope i didnt said too much i will leave you for now with another pic.

PS. Always save your work… ALWAYS… lol… One of the most feared moments yesterday was when i finished dofing and switching plus the slots i export the model and i quickly close 3dsmax without saving!Fortunatelly i had the autoback and i was able to continue and after maybe 20 minutes i realise the bottom of the fuselage in Aim-7 racks its not symetrical so i cut it in half and make symetry again after that the same mistake… I will never learn i guess…

Correct, just look at the lower lods in LODEditor of another aircraft to see the difference.

Also i strongly advice everybody to use riboyster sound pack: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?31981-RSM-Phantom&highlight=Phantom+sounds as my dat files are tuned to this. Im sure he can halp u all if you wanna install them its not that difficult at all….
