Wheel brakes key command
-
Hello guys, I am observing this very strange thing with the key command for the jet’s wheel brakes. It says “hold” in the key configuration settings and in fact what that turns out to be is when I press and then release the corresponding key the wheel brakes are being held down in the virtual jet. My question is how to make the wheel brakes function normally, meaning when the key is pressed the brakes are applied and when the key is released they are released. In fact that’s how it functioned so far, I don’t really know what happened recently. I’m sure I’m missing something here. :?

I’ve had the K key go sticky in the past, usually when I am pressing and holding it, say just prior to take off during the engine spool up, and press another key while still holding it. In these instances, another sharp press/release is sufficient to release the brakes.
Is it possible you’re doing the same, perhaps via a joystick macro or similar?

Hmmm, actually I am using a joystick to actuate the brakes yes, and the key combo for it involves two keys - Shift_-_I. Maybe I should try to change that to be a single key, maybe it’s something with the modifier key…

Ok, I think I solved it! It seems to have been the key combo, so note to self (and anybody else that’s changing the default key bindings and assigning them to game controllers) - don’t use key combos for the wheel brakes action.;)

Glad you fixed it!
As a general suggestion, avoid combos wherever possible. The easiest way to do that is to use directX to the greatest extent possible.

^That, and if you absolutely have to use a keyboard macro, make sure to define the press and release of all keys in proper order. Usually this fixes any hanging shifted key issues.
