Which Hotas do you use for BMS
-
TM Cougar. Have two, one is titanium Evenstrain and one is Ian’s Uber 2 NXT.
I prefer the Evenstrain.
-
I’ve got a FSSB R3 and TUSBA.
The FSSB acts like a warthog, so super easy to configure. The TUSBA is unique, but the preset in the key file editor packaged with 4.33 makes setup quite easy.
All I would ask is that mixing and matching be allowed. Not everyone uses a full HOTAS from the same manufacturer.

Nobody say you can’t
It’s just that for the purpose of this poll, the mixing is considered apart because of you are able to mix Hotas, chances are that you know how your system works and won’t need much help to set it up for BMS useIt’s already hard enough to plan for many genuine stick configs - if we have to account for all possible configuration, that will make it overly complicated for newbees, which is exactly what we are trying to avoid…
By nature it is already complicated for them. -
Cougar of course simple no mods or anything (yet!)! Couple of years ago found one used in very good condition for about 150 euros so i grab it till then i had a Hotas-X

If it remembers joystick setup per device, We don’t have to prepare stock setups for possible device combinations but only for possible devices. BMS does not but Alternative Launcher does that… Oh wait I got an idea for the next update of Alternative Launcher. Maybe in 3-4weeks…

I hesitated to propose that…
Would you consider add profiles to Alternative Launcher that will include:
- <nickname>.ini
- axismapping.dat
- joystick.cal
- windowconfig.dat
That way you can have specific device(s) with specific DTC configuration per profile.
For example:
- for A-10A I am using my DIY joystick with TM Warthog throttle with A-10A DTC,
- for F/A-18C I am using my DIY joystick with TM Warthog throttle with F/A-18C DTC (-> going to migrate to my DIY throttle),
- for A/V-8B I am using my DIY joystick with TM Cougar throttle with A/V-8B DTC (-> going to migrate to my DIY throttle),
- for F-16C I am using TM Warthog stick with TM Cougar throttle with F-16C DTC ( -> going to migrate to TM Cougar stick with LCFS mod).</nickname>

Thank you for the idea, can’t promise but I might try.
For further discussion, let’s talk at Alternative Launcher Thread. -
Yo! I mix on the X52 Pro with the latest Logitech USB3 drivers, the “Flounder X52 Pro v5 - Full” profile and I’m very happy … - I often end up like IKAR hehehe eeeee …!
-
I started as a TM Cougar user, then went the FSSB/TUSBA route.

Warthog with virpil warbrd base
-
My point was that it would be nice to consider the stick and throttle separate devices, rather than one complete HOTAS. So if you could select, for example, a warthog stick and an X56 throttle, it could make the system more flexible without (hopefully)introducing much in the way of added complexity.
But I do agree, simplicity for new users trumps convenience for power users. If what I ask can’t be accomplished without adding a bunch of complexity, then it’s not worth it.
As long as we maintain the ability to customize callbacks to our controls, us power users with ten devices and a touch screen will be happy

It’s striclty from a documentation point of view, we’re not changing anything in the possibilities to interface with the sim, at all.
I am of of these guys as well -
I mix and match without any issues…
Warthog stick and X52 Prto throttle
I do have a Warthog throttle, but prefer the X52’s rotaries.
-
just upgraded to Warthog with virpil warbrd base, but not only that is not working, but even the Throttle doesn’t work anymore. I guess I need to wait for other sims to catch up with what this one have for years now.

I had to remap the stick since it shows up differently to the game with the warbrd base, but once that was set up it has been working perfectly in Falcon and DCS. What specifically is the issue? Is your throttle not showing up as a game controller in falcon?

Everything shows up, everything works if you select that specific device, but once you save it, and exit nothing works anymore. It defaults to keyboard that is that. Even the throttle does not work anymore, unless I select it, but then the stick axes are out of commission. overall it is unusable. I tried with alternative launcher and that broke the game entirely. Sure I could reinstall but the game is clearly at it’s EoL and I would just and up where I started from in the first place.

Didn’t you change primary device? that should select stick only and should not select anything other.
Or if you are setting joystick.cal and axismapping.dat read only, uncheck it.

Could you tell me how did it broke your falcon?

BMS4.32 U7 to 4.33 took a year or more, it’s clear BMS devs are testing 4.34 (See Radium posting his new 3D model for next version!) and they are even developing 4.35, just we don’t know when to release. So it’S not EoL at all;)

I can select the device, but the axes will not work unless the proper device is selected. If I select the joystick, throttle and pedals will not work for example.

It would not launch anymore, but after all I did a re-install and manually created a link to the hub.exe and that fixed the problem.

That is really great news. This game have something special that DCS will never have even after voice chat, dynamic mission and F16 block 52 will be added.

Thank you, Let’s get things more precise.
Now you are not using Alternative Launcher and trying to assign axis via BMS UI, right?
If so, Usual step to assign axis via BMS UI is:
1. You choose your stick from “PRIMARY DEVICE” dropdown bar. (NOTE changing PROMARY DEVICE resets axis assign)
2. You choose which axis to assign from “ADVANCED” window.now your symptom is …
1. You choose your stick as a PRIMARY DEVICE and didn’t change it.
2. You then go to “ADVANCED” window and tried assigning axis but any axis except those of stick would not work: axis bar does not move.Is this what you see?

Exactly:D

Hello,
I had the same problem and then read in the Virpil forum what I have to do.
You have to change the VID / PID / POL with your configuration tool to the PID of the TMWarthog stick
and then save, then your stick is recognized as TMWarthog stick.
You can also load the target scripts with it.
I attached a few screen shots and my device sorting text.
Where you have to change something I framed red.
Unfortunately, I do not speak English and have the text translated with Google.Kind regards. Backfire
