ATC and Awacs do not respond on our MP server
-
@Bad:
I think that your server doesn’t have any kind of sound card installed (or maybe no sound driver installed) and that’s why you have this error
Hey, Bad Boy, thank you for the reply. Well, does it impact on BMS ATC? I’m asking you, because since I’m not using my voice to activate anything in BMS, does it really affect how the simulator handles ATC requests? Here is another video a recorded on this issue to show you guys what happens… I requested everything and nothing happened. Here is the video link:
Thank you for helping me

If you don’t have any comms at all with your server that means you will probably have a lot of mp issues as well
I will ask boxer to chime in here
Your error messages are weirdo indeed
Hey, Mav-jp, thank you for the help. Here is another video I’ve just recorded to show you what happens. I’m on my squadron private server and everything i request to the ATC is not answered:
Could this be what Bad Boy said? Sound device not installed in our server?? Is sound device important to be able to communicate with ATC by keyboard?Thank you

i think that if no sound card is installed, the whole code that is supposed to play messages is just stalled , hence no comms MP messages are sent
server Hosts 100% of the comms

Correct

Understood. But let me ask you guys another question: this only happens in 4.34.
Our previous BMS 4.33 worked perfectly. Does 4.34 have anything different that requires a server modification?

And yes things have changed in this area

Thank you guys for the help again. Just to add to this conversation:
The “error opening capture device 2321” was solved by turning on the windows audio service which was deactivated for some reason. I don’t know whether it was already off with 4.33 or not. -

No. Just the error mentioned. The comms issue remains. It was something with the IVC.
And the other error message continues: whenever I close BMS, the message “looks like there is no server running or there are connection problems, try again maybe” pops up. It may be something related to IVC, because I need to close it to get rid of the message. And in spite of this supposed IVC error messages, we can use it without any problem to communicate in BMS.Everything i’m telling you guys here is happening in the server we are using to host BMS campaigns, not a PC (aside from the ATC not responding)
-
We seem to have the same issue on the Veterans-Gaming 24/7 server from reports received.
Just came across your post re the VG same issue.
-
I am pretty sure the ivc issues are that you have the server itself set to use IVC (be a client)…the default host a game entry has ivc set to 0.0.0.0, either set it to 127.0.0.1 or uncheck the use IVC box when hosting the mission
-
Its a mess here. Re examining facts and my memory lol But i think there could actually be something in what you suggest.
-
A dedicated server don’t need at all to be connected on its own IVC server, so don’t connect your server to the IVC and problem solve
-
In case relevant the server has no sound card (same as with 4.33) but has on board AMD high def audio device. It also lists additional ? High def audio device in device manager.

Hold on
I have a terrible doubt here
Do you confirm that your server is actually in 3D before clients joining ?

Ok, guys, first of all, thank you, Mav-jp for giving me a hand on this and everyone who took time to help me here! Well, after seeing Mav-jp saying that BMS needs to be in 3d world to function properly, i decided to test the ATC with the server in 3d, and everything worked! All requests are answered by Awacs and ATC. So the thing is, something different in 4.34 requires the dedicated server to be in 3d world to make it happen, which was not something crutial in the previous version 4.33 (we had been flying for almost 2 years with the server in 2d and nothing absurd happened ever). QUESTION: does BMS 4.34 require anything different from its previous version that makes it inefficient in 2d? I don’t know whether or not this is a bad thing for dedicated servers. I can tell you that the VPS my squadron use to host BMS is not capable of handling 4.34 in 3d world. Think we are going to have to increase our server specs maybe. Anyways, I don’t know if this is the real “fix” for this issue, but this is the way i managed to run BMS 4.34 with ATC and Awacs working. Thank you, guys!!! Hopefully, there will be another solution for this!!!

Ignore anything ive written. Back to square one. Old 433 server did not/does not have any entry in IVC ip but works. Of course it should be 127.0.0.1 Confusion bred confusion.
Back to OP Rioevcfenix while wait for player feedback.
Server in 3D ? Leaving aside any benefits of being in 3D, Not being in the 433 server by choice sometimes has never interfered with the comms. Interaction with clients is often useful/needed so being in 2D (4.33) often preferable. Many clients do not use IVC.Just seen the above post so will try as Mav-Jp said and has seemed to work for Rioevcfenix .

Not only ATC need a server in 3D, also carrier ops need it. All the game initialisations are perfectly managed by a server in 3D which was never the case with a server in 2D

Hey, Cobalt! The IVC errors reported were fixed by turning the windows audio service on and unchecking both IVC options before hosting the server. Now the messages no longer pop up. Thank you and hope you’re right about the fact that BMS shouldn’t require to be in 3d to function just like before…
