NVG intensity request.
-
Good morning.
I have a small request to ask…
Would it be possible to vary the intensity of the NVGs, even making a proper command in the keyfile?
As it is, it is really annoying … indeed, decidedly dazzling! Thanks in advance anyway it goes, with best regards.

It’s always nice to see a crowd of friends queuing up to answer…Hey, one at a time, no hurry, huh?

3 to 4 weeks ,sorry,couldnt resist.
Help if i could, musta fell thru the cracks.

AFAIK, NVGs can’t be dimmed (at least not the one I know).
-
Correct, NVGs are not dim’able. The only way to “dim” them IRL is to look at an area that has very little ambient light (No moon, overcast skies, far from cultural lighting, etc).
-
Can’t their gain be manually adjusted, though? I’m sure at least some models can do that, though I’m not sure about the ones used by pilots.
-
Thanks for your answers, Dee-Jay and Jolly… even I already knew it, but I had to try the same at least, you know.
With best regards.

Almost ALL night vision devices have either manual or auto gain. And by adjusting the gain you are also adjusting the brightness per say. My ANVIS 9s do not have a manual gain and according to my knowledge are fixed to high-gain as I never seem to see them self adjust. So for realism simulating ANVIS 9s I don’t think having a key to adjust the gain would be realistic.

I found you can edit NvgMask.dds using Gimp. I tinted the white circle until the NVG was useable low-level.
-
just a couple of rather obvious things to try regarding NVG brightness.
-
on the HUD panel set brightness to “night”
-
turn off console lighting and instrument panel lighting in the cockpit.

just lower the helmet’s smoked visor
