MFD extraction - what is the best way to do this in 4.34?
-
Extend your desktop to include the two extra monitors, the use Cockpit Display Extraction or RTTRemote to draw the MFD output onto the extended desktop. The BMS Technical Manual, section 5, explains it better than I can in a forum post.

I personally use YAME64 for extracting MFD (without bezel) in 4.34 onto 10’’ HDMI Touchscreen panels. For the input bezel I’m using Helios instead of Cougar MFD bezels. The extraction with YAME runs super stable and smooth without any noticeable FPS drop

Where did you find 8" inch monitors? Are they flat screens?
I purchased the monitors on Amazon. Here’s the link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FHDL1DE/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_sIp7DbW44154E

Thanks for the information oakdesign! Will YAME64 work if I have my two 8” monitors connected to the same GPU as my main monitor?

Yes it will. I have currently 2 10 inch touchscreen displays and 1 27 inch connected to my 1660ti and another 2 10 inch tablets through USB with duet display software

Another 8 inch as plain panel

Can you hook up 2 extra monitors to a PC with only 1 HDMI output?
-
Best would always to have a GPU with multi monitor support
Alternative would be a display splitter such as a matrix triple head
https://matrox.com/graphics/de/products/gxm/th2go/digital_se/
other solutions would be to use USB Displays or Tablets connected through USB with a Display extending software -
That one must be engraved with Gold. LOL. Would this one work?
edit> I’m stuck with ONE HDMI output…

At work we use either Matrox Tripleheads or Dell and HP Docking Stations for Multi Display setups. Never tested other Display Splitters so far.
On my BMS machine I have 1 HDMI and 3 DP with DP to HDMI AdapterGesendet von meinem SM-G930F mit Tapatalk

Can you hook up 2 extra monitors to a PC with only 1 HDMI output?
Good question, right now I have the two extra monitors connected to the HDMI output and the main monitor is connected to the DisplayPort. My PC detects the two extra monitors as one, and I dont know if there is a solution for detecting them as two separate monitors. Any help would be highly appreciated.

That sounds way more to be a driver issue or sustem setup issue. Could you give more information on your system. Which GFX Card, Drver Version, OS etc

oakdesign, I am running Windows 10, 32GB RAM, i7-8700K 3.7GHz, RTX 2070, LG 1440p 32" monitor

Also, I connect the two monitors with the following HDMI splitter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07XCZC6SP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I realised that the splitter just mirrors the same screen on both monitors. Hence, the system only detects one extra monitor.
Any suggestions on how to solve this issue? What adaptor should I consider? Many thanks in advance!

So you have an RTX 2070 with 1 DP 1 HDMI and 1 DVI Connetctor? If so why not connecting one of the MFD Screens to HDMI and the Second with an DVI to HDMI Adapter to the DVI Port and the Main Screen to DP

Thanks for the suggestion!
My RTX 2070 only have 1 DP and 1 HDMI, no DVI connector. I just realized that my motherboard Asus ROG STRIX Z370-H GAMING has an HDMI and DVI. I tried to connect the third monitor to the HDMI on the motherboard, but I received “No signal”. I restarted the PC and then voilá, it worked!!!
Thanks a lot for your help!

Ok now I got you. You might use the integrated GPU from your I7-8700K alongside your RTX 2070. In order to use both GPU you have to enable GPU Graphics Multi Monitor in BIOS see

Hi Vikingo,
I guess this doesn’t really solve your problem, in terms of figuring out how to get the video signal to your monitors, but…
I recently made MFDs using the exact same 8" Eyoyo monitors that you are using. I have found that they work well, and I am pleased with my MFD setups.
In my case, getting the video signal to each monitor was fairly easy, but that’s only because of my graphics card. It has a number of Displayport outputs, and I used two of those outputs to run cables to my Eyoyo monitors. Here are the cables I used:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HXOU4Y2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Happily, I was able to set up the two monitors as extra displays, just using the Windows 10 display settings.
I used the Display Extraction function built into BMS. I didn’t use YAME or anything like that.
You can set the size and position of each extracted display, and that took a fair amount of iterating and fiddling around in order to get each MFD image properly sized and centered. But eventually I got the MFD outputs properly sized and positioned on my Eyoyo screens.
I got some matte black cardboard at a craft shop, and made masks so that the unused portions of the monitors are covered up. I attached those to my monitors with double-sided tape, and then attached my TM MFD frames to the cardboard with more double-sided tape.
I attached some small thin wooden boards to the backs of the monitors, using small screws that go through the wooden boards, and into the threaded holes in the backs of the monitors. I hold the monitor/MFD assemblies using two of these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074PFVVBH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
(The wooden boards give the iPad holders something to grip onto with their “jaws”.)
I would like to buy or fabricate stiffer “holders” for the monitor/MFD assemblies. These are too flexible and wobbly, but I don’t mind it too badly. I’m just so happy to have working MFDs!
Again, apologies for not really giving you a good way to get the extracted display signals to your monitors. I’m using an EVGA GTX 1080 graphics card that has a number of outputs. I think I am using three Displayport outputs, one for my main 2560x1440 monitor, and two for the MFD monitors.
I hope you are successful at running the displays. I had dreamed of having working MFDs, with screens, and I’m really pleased with how it worked out. I find it VERY convenient to be able to push the physical buttons on the MFD frames, and to have the MFDs running next to my main monitor. Seeing a GBU impact the dock crane in the LGB mission, as shown on one of these screens, is worth the time and effort!
(Now, if I can just get that darn red loading crane to collapse… someday, someday…)
-
It was already enabled. Now I have the MFDs working on the two monitors. See attached picture. I use RTT Remote. Very easy! The only thing that remains is to attach the Cougar panels and I am ready to fly.
Cheers, and thank you all for your advice!
