Flight model comparation - BMS F16 Falcon DCS F16 Viper

Hi,
It’s not about wind, this is an oval distortion of the proportions in the longitude of the world in Tacview when you load BMS track.

@SCX:

Could be. I don’t know if it is true or not but it is relevant. However … please explain why projection (distance) it change in time (see what I mean?).
-
What do you mean?
-
@SCX:
What do you mean?
If the longitude is distorted … why the “circle” is more distorted at the end of the 360° than at the beginning => an elliptic trajectory, I would understand, but why a spiral trajectory?

Because there is wind as well
-
What i’m saying is that for some reason it seems to me that Tacview shows some distortion in the longitude axis for BMS, so the image is not in the correct aspect ratio.
Here i fixed the ratio in Photoshop
-
Ah ok. But I am rather talking about about that:
-
You can see the ratio problem also in the Tacview backround:
-
That’s the nature of turning hard, the radius getting smaller

Like here:
https://tonyrogers.com/news/images/0104viper5.jpgNot if you keep the same TAS/G/roll angle … and unless I am missing something, it was the purpose of the test in the video (max sustained turn rate at sustained airspeed).
-
Ah ok. But I am rather talking about about that:
windo comign from south most likely
continue circling and you will see like a sailplane trajectory while in spiral
on top of that, the G building time at the start makes the first turn not really circular anyway
-

Yep. Agree.
-
Yes, off course, if you’ll continue at the same speed/G/Roll etc…it will be the same circle, but at the start of the pull it’s still not sustained.
-
@SCX:
but at the start of the pull it’s still not sustained.
… so we have part of the answer. (I am not able to read the telemetry values from here on my small screen).
-
Ah ok. But I am rather talking about about that:
from time 4:18 to 4:53 into the video , the TRDs collapse from eta 1.5nm to 1.0nm, so it is not necessarily “wind”.
Similar “cirlce-shape” differences can also be seen in the vertical loops, prior to the sustained turn test !
Talking about which, if TRT, G-load and speed and AoA is kept (assuming flown precisely) contant, SHOULD the radius (TRD) collapse as well, and IF - why (with one eye considering https://i.stack.imgur.com/wuiBV.png and WIND again) ?
The warped tacview dimensions - as mentioned above - is worth looking into.
I do however wonder, if the “medium” (the athmosphere aka air flown in) is “different” and what i always wondered - even in the past as sidenote - is i.e 1000 feet REALLY 1000 feet in the dimension and in relation to anything else in the game ? -
@A.S:

Yes it is. (old urban legend coming from oversized building textures).

So maybe watching the same ACMI in TACVIEW and in original in-game ACMI viewer could show the distortion of TACVIEW projection. Or … maybe trying to use REAL or DCS terrain mode in TAC VIEW for video comparison and see how it looks like.

The distortion in tacvirw is obvious
The crosses are supposed to define squares , not rectangles

Hi Rev!
The airbrake rl video is badly chossen. On most to videos airbrake retraction is a bit longer (about 5-6s).
I only know that video
-
I had to admit that I did a big mistake with DCS, I forgot to remove the pylons under the wings… For that this new video, comparing the diferences in DCS with/without/A2A armament configs, also at the end of the video again the comparation with BMS, only the takeoff part of the vide untill 4000 lb of fuel
Sorry for the mistake
