Dunc's Profile is giving me issue
-
Hey guys, I recently installed Windows 8 and therefore lost all my joystick configurations, etc. I used to utilize Dunc’s DX profile, and it worked without issue. I tried to install it again, but none of the buttons work correctly.
I loaded up Dunc’s tmj and tmm files in Foxy, downloaded them to my cougar without issue.
I put Dunc_DX.key file into my BMS Config folder, then loaded it in game and tested my keys.Every single key just comes up as an being bound to an LMFD_OBS key, like 1-34. None of the shifted keys do anything either. I tried using someone else’s .key file to see if maybe mine was corrupted, and it didn’t do anything. I have no idea what the issue could be
Also tried turning emulation on and off, didn’t do anything either way. (Think its supposed to be on for dunc)
-
Emulation should be on for a tmm profile.
When you press the joystick buttons in the BMS setup page, what number is displayed? I imagine the Cougar is not the only joystick you have plugged in?
-
AH i see what you mean, it says buttons are in the 30-40s range, I have my rudder pedals plugged in as well, no other joystick.
WOAH. Unplugging my rudder pedals fixes it, the keybinds work properly. Plugging them in however and restarting falcon messes it up again though :c
Any way to make Falcon “see” my joystick as the first device? This is strange because this was never an issue at first.
I tried unplugging my joystick and rudder, then plugging in joystick first. Didn’t help
-
Thats because Windows assigns or recognizes DX devices in some particular order. The first device gets the first ?32 DX button/switch numbers, the next device the next 32 (?33 - 64) and so one. For BMS, up to 8 devices (buttons 0 - 256).
You either need to find a way for Windows to recognize the joystick as Device #1, or change the keyfile/profile so the jopystick buttons are numbered ?33 - 64.
-
Easiest way is probably to open the keyfile with a text editor, and then increment the Dx button number by 32 for all the stick Dx commands (at the bottom of the file).

this was indeed my problem. I think it was one of the windows updates that did that. Before I used to be able to select the cougar as the first device but now the 1st on the list was the Saitek rudder and the cougar was 2nd , and no matter what I did it remained that way. Finally I unplugged the rudder and now the keys are functioning again. When I unplugged the rudder the computer made a very strange series of sounds that didn’t stop. I had to pull out the power plug to make it stop. Its like the computer was mad that I found out and wanted to revenge somehow
-
ok resolved the problem by replugging the siatek rudder (into a different usb port) now dunc file works like it never did before

Seems like in BMS 4.33 that the DX is offset somehow, or maybe its Win10. Trying to figure it out. TG2 shows up as DX5 and then each after is off, when I use USE ALL_DIRECTX_BUTTONS. I tried settings each button as a DX, but then I get an error with USE TG1 AS DX1 and BTN TG1 /I /T Padlock…. Ugh.
-
Prophet are you using the latest files in your \Falcon BMS 4.33\Docs\Key Files & Input\Dunc_DX folder? If so, have you followed that guide?
If you have then check that your Cougar is set up as the first controller in the Game Controllers Windows App.
-
Doing a complete cleanse, deleting the firmware, reinstalling… seemed to do the trick. The problem was TG2 was showing as S1 and then everything after was shifted over.

If you have then check that your Cougar is set up as the first controller in the Game Controllers Windows App.
Hi Darkman
I’m battling W10 to - how exactly can I check that Cougar is my 1st device?
Cheers

No idea. As you can see from my signature I’m still running Windows 7.
In Win7 I just press the Windows key, type ‘game’ and select the ‘Set up USB game controllers’ app from the list that pops up. I then just check that the Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar is the first in the list of USB game controllers.
If it’s not the same in Windows 10 I’m sure someone brave enough to beta test again for Microsoft will help out.
-
Thanks…Darkman….it works the same way in W10.
BUT…my HOTAS is last on the list…actually as No. 5!
Next question: how the f*** do I move it to the front?
Anyone?

Hi BOS!
Try seaching for JoyID. AFAIK it was Lightning who made the program some years back.
It’s a small utillity that shows your devices and lets you re-arrange them. Can’t find the original download page, but found a link at http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13009
Best Regards
ZoomOutedit: Not sure if it works with newer systems, but you could give it a try……;)

Mine was doing the same after upgrading to Win 10 … It fixed after I swapped the USB ports I used for the cougar and MFDs.
