Falcon BMS had stopped working - Error
-
Hello all,
Been playing with this 4.34, no U1 or U2, install for a while with no problems. Then all of the sudden, this week I’m getting the message below after clicking on Launch:
Falcon BMS has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.Have MicroProse Falcon 4.0 already install and reinstalled to try to resolve this issue.
I remember updating Nvidia display drivers right before this issue. So reinstalled the previous driver and same error. Uninstall Nvidia display drivers altogether and still same error.
Uninstalled BMS the right way using setup.exe and did fresh install of 4.34 with U1 and U2 and still same error.
Installed BMS on a different logical drive and still same error. Tried and another dedicated SSD with no luck. I’m sure I’ve installed BMS correctly; I’ve done it many times.
Turned off antivirus suite during installation and ran CCleaner and same error.
Downloaded a fresh Falcon BMS setup.exe through the torrent link provided from the forums here and still same error.
I haven’t done a system restore yet or uninstall some Windows 10 updates.
I haven’t made any hardware changes recently. Any ideas would be appreciated!System specs:

That should work.

Thanks for your quick reply Rypley!
I uninstalled updates to the time before the issue and still getting error when launching.
I also uninstalled several applications that I installed around the time of the error and still nothing.
Ran CCleaner a 2nd time and nothing.
Reinstalled BMS many times and still nothing. Tried just the full base 4.34 installer and also with U1 and U2, still nothing.
Tried to do a system restore but all the things I did to troubleshoot the issue created restore points and now I can’t restore past yesterday which doesn’t do any good.
I’m at such a loss here guys. Please Help!! -

I fixed it!
I have Windows 10 Home edition and seems like it didn’t want to reinstall so I went to Microsoft to download a new Windows 10 installer. Downloaded the windows 10 media creation tool. Had to click on the blue button “Download tool now”, chose my USB flash drive, and after is downloaded I clicked on "setup.exe and basically chose to keep my applications and data (among other things, this reinstalls drivers, etc to defaults). The updates installed but BMS works now!
I had good working Windows 10 installation USB drives but the only one that worked was the above and here’s the link:
Already had BMS installed when the reinstall finished and launched it successfully!! :headb:
Maybe this will help someone down the road having the same issue.

Sure… the fix is always reinstall OS … and start, in this case fortunately not from scratch. I recall when we were reinstalling Win98crap. 1-3 times a day… but we were young and then was happy time…
If someone would tell me to do those things today … I would gladly break his neck with no remorse.Sorry mate not quite the fix , as for the fix you should’ve identified the error then reverse it to a working state… OS reinstall is kinda - last resort.
But!, nevertheless good you’ve succeeded to make it work and good luck in the future.
