J-15 Flying Shark, PL-12s

Seems the same as 4.34.0 to me, no trouble at all wasting J-15 Flopping Fish armed with PL-12s in 4.34.3. Typhoon with AIM-120B is harder to kill. Fly higher and faster for launch then turn and burn to evade if you have trouble in BVR.

I’ve done a bit of testing for fun. These are the top speeds of the AAMs. All launched from 20,000ft, 300kts CAS straight and level. Missile speed in mach. Note the missiles are fired dumb and tend to go into a dive.
AIM-9M - 2.9
AIM-9X - 3.0
AIM-7F - 2.7
AIM-7M - 2.7
AIM-120B - 3.0
AIM-120C - 3.4
R-60 - 2.4
R-73 - 3.1
R-27R - 3.1
R-27ER - 3.7
R-77 - 3.7
PL-8 - 2.4
PL-10 - 3.0
PL-12 - 3.4
ASRAAM - 3.0
IRIS-T - 2.3
AIM-54A - 2.7
AIM-54C - 2.7
R-33 - 2.2
R-40T - 2.8
R-23R - 2.8
Skyflash - 2.3
Forgot the French!
MICA EM - 3.6
Super 530D - 3.3
R550 Magic II - 2.7 -
Hubert, may I have an ACMI of your testing? I will work on posting a video of mine. Thanks in advance.
Here is my flight analysis of PL-12, which I believe is a more real world analysis of missile characteristics than “Mad Dog” testing. I will update this as I continue testing on AIM-120 and AA-12 and post the same type analysis of each of those missiles. The times listed in the PNG image are the timestamps from the ACMI at the time the data was being documented.
PL-12 Summary: 52 seconds total flight time launch to impact at a distance of 31.8 miles to target at time of launch.
37 of 52 seconds of total flight time @ mach 2.5 or greater
18 of 52 seconds total flight time @ mach 3.0 or greater
6 of 52 seconds total flight time @ Mach 3.5 or greater
With 22,280 ft of altitude gain in ballistic arch apex from launch altitude, launch alt. 21,439, max. alt achieved 43,719
ACMI FILE used for this analysis can be downloaded here if you are on Discord

Sorry for all the edits Hubert, I finally figured out how to place my data in a .PNG file with the help of an Aussie friend.

A lot of variables there… What is the target doing? Range to target? Target speed and altitude? I just did a basic speed test any more than that gets very complicated.
I tried uploading and it said error??? It’s a very basic test just fly at 20,000ft 300kts shoot missile go to missile view and see how fast it goes.
You could look at the missile data files and compare maybe?

It is interesting how slow is IRIS-T - 2.3 nad how fast is MICA EM - 3.6

Look in Falcon4.34/sim/data/Misdata PL-12
File was last modified 12 Aug 18.
4.34.0 was released 20 April 19.
In the data file at the top it says ‘copy of AIM-120C for now’.

Yes it does say “Copy of AIM-120C for now” but it is not an exact copy. I reviewed both the misdat files for AIM120C and PL-12 here is what I found.

@TGW:
Interesting to notice that the AIM-54x Phoenix is only capable of M2.7 here . . .
Bah! M3.8 -> M5.0

Correct. AIM-54A hits mach 4.0 loft profile at a target, 25,000ft mach 1 launch in the game. The missile specs from manufacturers are usually best possible performance.
