Mission Commander beta release

Hey Falcas…
I’m having a problem starting MC. It just doesn’t. I’ve tried reinstalling .NET - went from 4.0 to 4.5 to 4.8, nothing helped. I’m not sure where to go from here.
Cheers!
Not much info to help you out with…
If you have .NET 4.5 (or higher) installed, that part should be fine.
Just unpack the zip file in a directory you created. But do NOT unzip it into your BMS install!!!
Nothing more to explain.Gr Falcas

That’s what I thought too…I have used previous versions (and quite enjoyed them).
Currently have .NET 4.8 (had 4.7.2 prior to this), downloaded the most recent version of MC, unzipped it into an empty folder (different drive from BMS install), but when I try to start it, nothing happens. Not getting any antivirus nor firewall warnings either. Even tried a restart, to no avail.
Prior to my updating the software I tried using an older version and it complained of not being able to find certain files in the campaign folder. I chalked it up to having an incompatible version.
Cheers!

Try and see if you can install .NET 4.5. MC is build on that.

I did…no luck

Falcas is there anyway for the “costs” of the links to be adjustable?
Thanks! -

Thanks!Yeah, just change the value. Links can be found by opening an objective.

Thanks for the quick reply, I hoped maybe there is a config file or whatever so the “calculate links” would do it but ok I have to make a “path” through objectives then
-
As soon as you create a link between 2 objectives by using the option on the map (hold CTL and click) the costs are calculated automatically.
No need to change that. And note that costs are set in both directions!
What you can also do is is go to the Advanced Obj. There you can find a button which re-calculates all links for all Objectives. You could start changing the costs by hand… but well its a bit waste of time

Does MC create any files or registry entries that may carry over from one version to the next? Is uninstalling as simple as deleting the folder and it removes everything?

Correct, nothing actively added to the registry for installation of MC. It is really nothing more than unzipping.
Removing the file or directory where you have unzipped is all you need to do for removal.
You can overwrite older versions as well. But in this case you must make sure to overwrite all files.Earlier you wrote an older version was running. If you get messages for missing file just point MC to those files.

Ok, im out of ideas…. Editing costs manually didnt work,re-create the links to the object didnt as well, re create the object it self nada! Units keep ignoring it or start to go and turn back. i even edited priority in it… none… only if i have the units “human controlled” they will go the thing is that if the units are in that state they will stay for ever in that objective and not help in the progress of the game if you dont return them to hq controlled. Im out of ideas what may be wrong? what am i missing?

Links is only one part of the story. It also depends on the tiles in the theatre. Is there a road between the 2 Objective? Do you have a river in between?
Is the bridge tile set up? Is the bridge destroyed…Gr Falcas

This is what im afraid. That in general the theater is broken. As for destroyed i always “repair” all objectives prior to saving.

Hello Falcas
One question, what’s the difference, in the Campaign tab, Campaign/TE, between the TE types, Engagement and Sortie?
Thanks in advance -

Hello Falcas

Thanks in advanceHey,
It is the same setting as you can find in BMS under Victory Conditions.
Here is how it is written in the original Falcon4 manual.Sortie A single mission from takeoff to landing. In Falcon 4.0, sorties are short engagements centered around one mission or tactical objective.
Engagement The actual fight with the enemy. In Falcon 4.0, this is a long-term minicampaign that includes packages with multiple tactical objectives. -

Hi,
Does anyone know how I can open mission commander DB?
From where and how is it reading the game data?
Is it similar to the way the shared memory is read? -
MC reads from the cam file and the game DB which apart from the 3d DB are various xml and dat files within the game Data folder
