FALCON BMS ZELAUNCHER!
Here is a Launcher that will no longer require you to switch theatres in-sim and also allows you to keep theatres in multiple installation directories!!

About
I originally developed this tool for my own personal needs as switching between
various theaters and install directories was becoming time consuming.
This is a switcher that will enable you to start your theaters from ONE shortcut and
also allow you to have multiple Falcon installation directories at the same time.
This is useful for those who want to launch any theater with one shortcut (without the
need to go into game, switch theaters, restart… yeah, you know the drill)
Also useful for those that have more than one BMS installation (e.g. if you have
theaters without BMS Update 1) or an installation dedicated to a specific theater. This
tool will enable you to use multiple directory names for your Falcon folders. This approach also enables theatre devs to completely take over the installation directory and make it dedicated for the theatre - (change simdata/art files etc.)
Also preserves BMS patching of multiple BMS installations.
Enables easier MP whilst reducing the risk of boo boos.Disclaimer: yep, read it in the PDF
v1.0 - initial release
v1.1 - updated to allow shortcut parameters to be passed like -ef for eyefly and so on. If you are updating SAVE your configuration.bat so your settings are not lost and replace the new one with it.
V2.0 Added new icons, logbook sync and backup, global restore, merged 64 and 32 bit installsNew Version!
V2.0
Added new high res 512 icons,
Logbook sync across different install
Automatic logbook backup
Merged 64 and 32 bit installs
Can restore or copy logbooks or configuration files to all installations in one go.
What does this tool do?
I creates shortcuts and allows you to have multiple Falcon installations on multiple drives. You can launch any theatre simply by double clicking the icon and WITHOUT the need to exit the sim after theatre change. If you have only a basic install this tool will provide you with shortcuts to the default theatres.
Given the possibility to have multiple installations this tool can automatically SYNC your logbook between different install so you always fly the latest version.
This tool also automatically creates timestamped logbook backups.
This tool can also do a one-time SYNC of configuration files across all installs
It can also RESTORE a backup of your logbook!!
Hope this tool is as useful for you as it has been for me.

Zelegend, now that’s a really cool tool. Your application opens up a whole lot of possibilities with theatre development. One question, when using the 64 bit version of your application, will BMS be able to access additional memory for faster terrain loading?

No mate, it’s called 64bit because it is specifically designed to manipulate registry locations for 64bit systems. Nothing to do memory allocations.
I just didn’t have time to integrate both versions.
Best regards

Damn, I just realised the name clashes with Falcon BMS Launcher that comes bundled with BMS!!!
Maybe I should call it ZELAUNCHER or something

LOL, why not.
Your tool sounds usefull, Thank’s.
Cheers,

Note that it isn’t that hard to modify 64-bit registry in a 32-bit app. Involves some win32 api calls. That would remove the hassle of having 2 versions.

I didn’t say it was hard, I am just not spending any more time on this right now as I have other things to attend. Also, it’s not a 32 bit app.they are scripts customised to deal with 64bit registry locations.
If you want to do it be my guest, send me the files and i’ll integrate them. Also a nice GUI for the configuration would be nice too.

Does this make possible to run different theaters with different sim(data) directory?

Does this make possible to run different theaters with different sim(data) directory?
Yep. This is one way I’m using this. E.g. for my Kashmir I have a custom Simdata directory (in fact, I have 4 different theatres with their own simdata). I just add the theatres to the ZE-LAUNCHER. Other theatres that have their own simdata (like standard Korea) are in different BMS install locations so no conflict.
-
What Korea '80s will be relase can your write me a step by step tutorial how can be used? The swpped files via CE is too complicated me, currently the only way on my side if you use my theater swap the whole \sim directory…

You need some conditionals…
If registry x64 is populated then do x64 operations else do 32bit operations… etc.
As mentioned you can ask the OS what build / version it is through API calls, although it may be difficult if you are quering through .bat batch scripts.

Good job, work´s perfect and easy install:headb:
cheers

Well this is a very handy tool - thx M8
so we do not have to restart Falcon after switching theaters as we sometimes encountered CTDs when not doing so ?
Hopefully I can set " Active " soon in the the Kashmir theater
regards Falcontower
-
Nope, you don’t need to restart.
Kashmir has undergone an overhaul with 5 different mountain types and textures depending on region.
Very close to texture set limit. Will be active once it’s good and ready but TBH I’m spending more time doing TE than dev :rofl:Best regards,

Keep up the great work, really looking forward to ram my own jet into the mountains of Kashmir:headb:

Nice little program! Thanks!
Can you build in a check, whether TARGET-software is already started or not?
Checking for the process itself would be sufficient…Reason: If you forget to start TARGET before BMS the user has to do the axis-assigning-dance again.
This could be avoided if BMS denies to start if TARGET is not running. Is it possible to integrate this in your MSDOS-batch?
Otherwise a littler helper program, returning the result as an exit code would be nice (<- hint to the coders out there… ) -

Version 1.1 released.
Forgot an essential - to pass parameters from the shortcut. Updated links on my site.

New icons. I think I’ve got them all. Let me know if I’m missing any.
