X56 Rhino Stick and Throttle Settings Help!
-
I just replaced my defective X52 with a X56 and am using Cashman’s Profile for the X56 and 4.34. I also inserted Cashman’s DeviceDefaults and DeviceSorting into the Config folder. I’m still learning the sim and very much a noob. I am confused about the selection of either the stick or throttle in the game since it is connected with two USB’s. It shows up in the game as allowing only one selection (Either Keyboard, Stick or Throttle). I tried just selecting the Stick and using the advanced settings to map out the additional throttle controls. I played the Sim for a little while and the HOTAS worked great. However, I could not find a way to save the settings when I was finished. I went back into the game and I needed to redo all of the Throttle mapping. For some reason it appears that the DeviceDefaults are not setting the axis. I hope this makes sense because I really want this to work. Today was the first time I actually got to fly the sim without stick issues (X52) and It was fun experience.
I’m using AL Version 1.50
Thanks for any help.

Nevermind. It works!!!
I just realized that I was using the Advanced settings tab to set up my Stick and Throttle instead of doing at the beginning in the AL opening page. It now works and saved the mapped settings.

Good job, C!.Just in case… I’ve noticed with my HOTAS that when I set the throttle axis’ via AL they tend to “uncalibrate” themselves for some reason .So,I leave them unassigned in AL and set them in the regular UI. For some reason, those settings don’t change. The point is, if I go in via the Launcher in AL my throttle settings go away. My assumption is AL “overrides” the UI. So, when I’m not changing a button position for some such I’ll just go in via the regular launcher, and no problems

good morning, I bought a brand new Logitech X56. strange things happens whn you unplug both devices, mouse tends to lag and no response from mouse buttons, you end up resseting PC.
I´ve downloaded and followed all instructions with this joystick profile, but seems that if you select stick, cannot use throttles, and vice versa with throttles… what is strange is that al buttons works perfect either you choose stick or throttle… Which is the way to correctly load profiles or configure controls in BMS? I do it via setup controllers… but again you can choose stick or throttles.
HELP PLEASE…

Hi chituma, if you are using the native UI to set up your controls then don’t go unplugging your devices or you will have endless headaches. If for any weird reason you (like me) must unplug things from time to time then definitely use Alternative Launcher as it will remember device order for you and the UI is much more user-friendly in general. You can then duplicate any good profile with ease, such as Snelle’s excellent x55 profile, and adapt it for the x56. And avoid using the SST programming software as much as possible (or completely )

I would advise the Alt Launcher mentioned above. If you choose the UI, the Stick is the main device selected on the Setup page. You will assign the throttle under the Advanced tab

I have the X-56 HOTAS, and there is no way I could make the throttles work - nor really anything on the throttle side. I installed the Alt Launcher, and - tell me this is a joke - I found out that my toe brakes ARE also my throttles (if I program them that way). But if I turn off the toe brakes on my rudders, the throttles still won’t program. Uh…

Hi,Gary, I have to admit, when I first read your post mt first thought was your HOTAS was FUBAR. When my x-65 was going it started doing weird things like this.I hope I’m wrong!
Meanwhile, there are a couple of tricks…
Mount the throttle to a port on the pc, do not use a hub.
Although I am a BIG fan of the Alt. Launcher on my rig I’ve had problem maintaining throttle axis’ I do everything else on AL, then go into BMS and set the throttle(s) axis’ in the UI. Then, use the standard launcher after that, unless you’ve changed something in
AL.
Are you using throttle z rotation , or if in a rwin engine jet z-rot. for left, z-axis for right?
