Range Knob not working in game (and Foxy)

When the range knob works in Setup UI, then it should work insim as well.

I don’t see your foxy error message, … might be a compiler error,
because there is something wrong in your cougar files.

With Foxy I’m trying to compile Cougar_DX.tmj the one included with the latest BMS (without any change) But I get this:I tested the know while in flight after I moved the SOI to the right MFD but nothing happens. That’s so weird. I’ll post a video in short

There is a block doubled in Cougar_DX_tmj.Remove that 2nd dublicated block
BTN TG1 /I /T 2D_Cockpit /T 3D_Cockpit
/O /H DX1
… then it compiles nicely!

Hey there FNG (sort of) here with a problem with my cougar.
I followed the instruction and Installed BMS 4.35 and Cougar (I’m on win 10) and everything works fin,e but the Range. In the setup screen I set the range knob as range (and it works as it goes up and down) but during the game it doesn’t do anything.
Note that the MAN RANGE knob doesnt control radar range. When you say “during the game it doesn’t do anything.” - what exactly were you expecting it to do?

As I said I’m almost new to BMS so I’m sorry if this is stupid.
I was expecting that, selecting the HSD i would be able to increase the range (8-20-30…) and same for the radar. I guess I’m wrong…

Yup, not a bug then.
The MAN RANGE knob is a pretty bad name for it, unless you were an F-16A pilot moving onto the F-16C. For the older aircraft, the knob was used to adjust ranging for air to air gunnery I think? Its not used for this purpose in BMS. It is used to adjust the zoom level of the TGP though - and the gain level of the A-G radar (although this is eye candy only at present).

Yup, not a bug then.
Even a small and not so relevant one, but a bug in Cougar files nonetheless.

Knob used to choose between 700’ and 1500’ assumed air to air gunnery range. That’s why it has the name “range” knob. With EEGS this no longer has any relevance although I think it should still do that in SNAP or LCOS. The fact that it’s a knob instead of a switch suggests they were thinking of making it a dial to set range continuously like an F-86 gunsight.
