New free MFD/ICP app to control Falcon BMS from touch devices
-
Thankyou so much, I will test it tomorrow
Edit: It works really well. Thank you so much for the apk, I was really kicking myself for ordering a Huawei tablet (no wonder it was cheaper than other brands), but now I can put it to good use!

Great work @Kungfoo ā¦
Love?? ---- https://love2d.org/wiki/Main_Page
- maybe add one thing to the client (apk, ios) - select network/device ā¦ ip address of server input manually
Since I (personally) use usb-tethered network (RNDIS) , on completely other network subnet ā¦ donāt hog up my wifi with rtt-ex , and faster transfer via usb2 (400mbps) - client auto-config is totally unaware of that ā¦ so for someone who needs it , so the option is there ? pretty Please ?
- Remote NDIS is commonly on 192.168.42.x network (it varies with versions of windows/linux, ā¦ but on Win10 it is) ā¦ So , just need to hit the pc server from client āmanuallyā - not by broadcasting udp āhelloā
āAAND ā¦ select of keyfile manually , eg, with some server config line override ( I have no problem to rename my key-file to FULL , just so we donāt have to do it in the future)
(personally I like auto-config āfoolproofā solutions , but in case of trouble it is harder to debug stuff - what went wrong ?? )
ā@admin - Maybe put this thread in Input/Touchscreens for better finding ? Anyone?

Yep, this is using the love2d engine. I see you took a look at the apk (probably). It took me a while to make this decision to use it, but it is the most hackable thing i could find that would allow it to run on all platforms, which is a huge bonus. It also has zero compile times while working on it. Also when other people want to start working on the client (soon open source) you basically have the easiest development setup ever: you need the love2d binary and a text editor. No dependencies or complex IDEs to set up.
On broadcast discovery: i know there should be a config option for setups where udp broadcast does not work. It will be added, give it 3-4 weeks.
The server (should) take your active keyfile from bms shared memory export, so this should just work. However if your not using the full key file youāll have to make sure the callbacks are there. I think thatās a minor inconvenience.

Ok cool.
Naah, didnāt go that far to disassemble the whole thing , I was merely trying to figure out why it donāt like my rndis connection. ā¦
Actually , your solution is pretty neat , itās probably just me where things get complicated - but you may change that udp āhelloā in the future ā¦ as you wouldnāt believe how many āhelloāsā ā¦ or āfalconāsāEverything works out of the boxā¦ didnāt have to touch anything. Refresh @60 is hard to get via wifi (thatās where rndis comes in handy.) , but 30 is smooth enough.
Keys work, and I have different key-combos for mfdās so I would notice that something is wrongā¦ Great.
(but I already renamed key file to default āā¦FULLā name ā¦ soā¦ Iāll see if it works when using different key-file in config)āOne more suggestion, everyone puts AA/AG/LIST/etcā¦ (ICP) buttons on ICP panel (thatās there they are) ,ā¦ but when on MFDās screen and need to switch QUICKLY from AA-> AG or vice versa , then need to switch from:
MFD -> ICP screen ā¦ select AA / AG , ā¦ return to MFDās ā¦ etc ā¦ get me?
ā¦ and I know there is no too much screen space on devices ā¦ but if itās possible to āsqueezeā (copy) just AA and AG buttons to mfdās section -> it would be a miracle
ā¦COM1/2 ā¦ IFF/LIST ā¦ donāt need on mfd section , since their mode of operation is exactly there on ICP/DED , ā¦ hence AA and AG are more āgeneralā modes
SOā¦OR ā¦ why donāt put everything into one screen ?? These are all screenshots from my 10.1"@1920x1200 ā¦ so all icons are copy/paste 1:1
ā You have all the time in the world to think about it ā¦ also you could name your symbolic price / since it is some handywork/intelectual property ā¦ but ā¦ thatās another story// wonāt get into.
CHEERS and Thanks for another MFD tool !!

I like the layout as it is now, but it would be great with a swipe-action to switch between the two screen layouts. I find myself hunting for the slider control, a swipe would be very nice to have when you need to switch in a hurry.
-
be good if it was a full ICP panel, & radar
-
@jayb: i noticed that too while using it and will likely implement it in the next version.
-
@tj1: i donāt think i understand. you mean the rollers on the side of the icp? or which part are you missing? drift cutout switch is currently missing, but will be added

Tonight I experienced that the MFD display in the app froze (stopped updating) mid-mission (30 minutes in or so). The OSB buttons still worked, but the displays themselves stopped updating. As I was in single player, I paused and Alt-Tabāed out and restarted the control server, but it did not fix the problem. Is that this RTT-bug that has been reported in BMS, which may be fixed in first upcoming release?

Yes

Hello
Iāve just tried the app, and it is amazing.
In my equipment (too old to be even considered low-end), runs with very little delay, maybe 500 ms; both ICP/DED and MFDs. The DED uses the original monospace font, so it doesnāt appear distorted.
Iāve used it over wifi, from Windows 7 to a 4.4.2 Android tablet. If it can run so smoothly with this crap of equipment, I wonder what can be done with a proper modern suiteā¦As I see you are open to comments and suggestions, can you think of a way of sending the extraction of each MFD to two different IP in the same Wifi? I have a pair of those TM MFD frames, and I was thinking of stuffing a pair of Android tablets behind those frames. I used to be able to do that via some other app, but NEVER with this little delay of yours. Also, in order to fit behind the frames, would be useful to be able to resize the image from the Android app (to adjust it to different sizes and resolutions). Donāt worry if itās not feasible, itās just my personal setup and ideas.
Anyhow, the app looks great and very promising.
Good job! -
Thanks for the kind, encouraging comments.
You can already send to multiple clients. Simply run the app on multiple devices.
Resizable widgets is potentially further down the roadmap, but i donāt know when (and if Iāll get to it).
However to fit behind mfd frames people also had great success with cheap 7 inch screen from somewhere on amazon and some 3d printed parts.

Is there an admin that can move this to the āTouchscreensā subforum, because it probably belongs thereā¦?

Hi there, I am going to buy a tablet to use this program, but a friend of mine told me that sometime the game freeze up and he must restart the game. This is very annoying when playing online. Does anybody know if this bug has been solved and is this app for sale?
Thanks -

ThanksThis app is free to use.
Your friend might be using BMS 4.35 which is a bit buggy. If you want to have more stability, go with BMS 4.34 (with all updates).
BMS 4.35 U1 (update 1) should be more stable but that is 3-4 weeks away.

Thankstdr, think twice about Huawei if you were considering that brand. See my comments above

As long as this is an android based OS tablet, you can still install apk packages.
Meanwhile, it is true that Huawei lost their agreement to use the google play store on the latest hardware they sell.
-
Yes, that is my warning. While good hardware, one can not expect to be able to install any app available on Huawei devices for the time being. Only the ones outside the play store in the form of apkās, so not youtube, netflix etc. So this app by Kungfoo is fine, while other regular apps are not
-
Whatās wrong with Huawei ??? Google play is still active - yes there were rumors last year about dropping support - but! - eye spy ā¦ there would be too great consequences for . in the long run if google would have balls for such an action ā¦ pffft - all talk
So, why not Huawei??? ā¦2cā¦ - Iām on Hwā¦ MediaPad T5 AGS-L09 (with sim) 1920x1200 /3GB ram /32GB flash ~ 15-20 usableā¦ yeah they got trashā¦ 10GB for system??! - bullshit, but, overall āgreatā:headb: TAB ā¦ and octacore - not quite gaming tablet - but 60fps in TGP/WPN MFDās is NOT A PROBLEM AT ALL (via usb cable)
Of course there are better TABās around - this one was cheap - and all bang for buck$
IF!! and only IF google manages their balls to even smirk on Huawei - they will L00se - in how many ways I give to your imagination ā¦ do some calcsā¦
-Oh and APKās ā¦ who says they āMUSTā be shared via gPlay ??? - my Gooooodā¦ :nosep:- I canāt even count how many wayS to obtain even a PRO(paid) crakced app

I bought a new Huawei device in January and was unable to access Google Play. So every app needs to be got as an .apk. For niche use it can work. I just bought it for BMS but had an idea to use it for casual entertainment too, like Netflix and the like. No go, unless you want to spend ages on shady sites wading thru p*rn links and other nice stuff. And then log on to my account using an .apk obtained that way, I do not think so. So for a hassle-free experience, look to other brands.
