Can't Figure Out Weather Settings (BMS 4.35)
-
Read the manual, did some Googling but still have questions:
1. Is it possible to change the weather in Instant Action and Dogfight? I keep getting Inclement weather.
2. Do the Weather settings in Campaign (Probabilistic, Deterministic, Map Model, other weather settings such as clouds, temp, pressure ,etc) affect the weather in Instant Action and Dogfight? In any case, I find that no matter what settings I use in the Campaign Weather settings, I still get Inclement weather in Instant Action and Dogfight.
3. What do the various options under Map Model in the Campaign Weather settings do exactly:
a) Auto Save, Fair, Inclement, Start Maps Auto Update, Save-Day…, TE_BMS… ??
b) Profile-S, Profile-L, Save With ??Thanks in advance!

Download weather commander and immerse your self in the weather ;0) it will add a wider dimension to your weather options in BMS.
Hope this helps ;0)

Thanks, but before I explore those, I’d like to find out answers to the above questions as it pertains to understanding and managing the sim’s in-built weather options.

Instant action has no Weather button
BUT
Dogfight has. after selecting furball, team furball or matchplay, you will find a weather icon on the top left of the small KTO chart.
You can define weather for dogfight through that button in the same way weather is defined for TE and campaigns.
BMS manual page 10-116Quite unintuitive is the fact that the dogfight weather setting will influence the instant action weather setting as well.
So to set the weather in instant action, you need to set the weather first in the dogfight section.
I think this was not the way it was meant to as weather from one of these module was removed for reason I don’t remember.
Yet your issue is probably that your dogfight is set to inclement in dogfight and you can’t set your weather in instant action to anything else than that => go dogfight section and change the weather then test instant action and see which weather you have3. BMS technical Manual Chapter 7 weather and fmapsOh thanks! I missed looking for it in the Tech Manual! So I went through the BMS and Tech manuals on weather. I still have some questions though:
a) With regard to the list of ready made maps in the Weather Control UI, would a map like “Sunny” or “Inclement” transition to other weather states such as fair, poor, etc. on it own if the Map Auto Update box is checked?
b) What about “Start Map Auto Updates” (does it select next update to previous Fmap?) and “Auto Save” (does it use last known weather from Auto Save?)
Thanks in advance!
