Adding skinset and fuel tank getting different color
-
Hi,
For a mod I updated a skinset for a particular aircraft. From 1 texture to 2 textures.
All went fine except when I loadup my plane It became also 2 different color per set for my fuel tank.
So one skin gets grey fueltanks in loadout, the other skin gets blue fuel tanks.Where is this info setup to decide to use a different color fueltank on my second skin?
Cheers Obi1

Use the editor to copy the tank model in falcon. Rename the new model. Use lode editor to renumber the skin. Give the skin the color you want. Ad the new fuel tank in the editor loadout screen. (i know this is the short version, so backup falcon and give it a try. It works for me.

Okay, what I understand is that you create a completely new fuel tank as copy from this blue fuel tank and then let this have its own texture and make this one grey? But how do my different skinset (1 and 2) are linked to use one or the other fueltank? Or does the fueltank object also have 2 skinsets?
But why in the first place would it use a different fuel tank for my second aircraft skin while the first skin uses the correct one? That should be able to set this up somewhere not?Anyway I will check this fueltank object and see if it indeed has 2 different skins or that it are 2 different objects being loaded per skin.
Update: checked and i guess the fueltank has also 2 skins and by changing aircraft skin this weapon skin is also changing? Can one somehow set it up to simply not change automatically?

It works for me if I make 360gallontank, make a copy, rename this copy in 360gallonblue. In Lodeditor I change the skin number for the blue version. I ad this extra tank in Falcon setup. I choose the fuel tank in the load out screen. I do not have the knowledge to make this work automaticly. I do know that the guys that made this addon, https://www.facebook.com/operationadriaticsea, had something like that for the F-104S/G. The fueltank colors where linked with the skinset.
-
I think somehow this goes automatically. When plane has 2 skins, and weapon also has 2 skins. They get related, so skinset 1 of plane and skinset 1 of weapon get related.
I tested this method of copying, but It needs pretty much changes, also to squadron stores and cam file I think.
So yes it will work, but now I also think that perhaps adding another ‘dummy’ double skinset could also be a solution, this way the 3th set will use the correct tank again.Cheers Obi1

I used to create tanks pylons and main skins with same sets. 104 luke777 model with 17 different sets comes with camo and grey skins and relative pylons tanks colors.

something like this

something like this for main skin
tanks and pylons should have same set numbers and relative skins for them.
That’s how I did and it works.
Cheers

Yes, so set1 from plane always reflects set1 from weapon right?
I cannot use plane set 1 and plane set 2 both with set 1 of weapon?

set 1 with set 1 etc

Make sure you define 2 texture sets in the Parent file.
-
yes i know and i did that. i have no problem with the new aircraft skin added. its just that because i increased the skinset to 2. now the original fueltank that already had 2 skinset now automatically gets used with my second aircraft skin. Its he tornado 1500 lbs tank.

Change the fueltank number in the 2nd set to that of the 1st set.
-
not sure if i understand exactly, but i don’t want to change the colors of the fueltank sets, because they are shared with other planes like the jaguar.

No, I mean in your 2nd texture set for the aircraft that you want to have the fuel tanks the same, edit the fuel tank .dds number to be the one you want.
-
Yes that is exactly what I want. Where can I change this .dds number? Is it in lod editor or MC?
So you can specify fueltank dds from tex set 1 to be used for aircraft dds set 2? I thought weapons got there own lod and texture sets.Cheers Obi1

If you are playing with Jaguar tanks, did you have a look at how RP-35 has been implemented in 435 Balkan ?
The tank is shared between Mirage F1C (one bleu+metal skin set), F1CT (one grey+green skin set), F1CR (one grey+green skin set + one sand+brown skin set) and Jaguar A (one grey+green skin set + one sand+brown skin set)
There is one “metal” RP-35 tank that is used by F1C with only one “metal skin set”
There is one “painted” RP-35 tank that is used by all others (F1 & Jag) with 2 skin set one green+metal and the second sand+metal
When you fly a F1CT, the skin set number is always 1, so RP-35 are metal+green
When you fly a F1CR or a JaguarA, if you chose the skin set number 1, plane and RP-35 are metal+green, if you chose the skin set number 2, plane is sand+brown and RP-35 is metal+sand
The skin set number is applied to the plane and all its loadout (pylon, racks, weapons) -
Yes, but I think this is done by using 2 separate RP-35 objects in database?
I am talking about the Tornado ADV, I added one skinset for it, but the tanks already had 2 dds sets for the tanks and now they have become ‘active’ for set 2 because the aircraft has also now 2 sets instead of the original 1.
And I was trying to fix this without adding another copy fuel tank object to database for this fuel tank.
Sorry if I misunderstood something. But I think Pumpyhead was close and has a solution for it. Just don’t know where I can do this configuration.Cheers Obi1

I have not looked at the tornado, but it is possible that the tank skin is in the texture set. You may be able to do this in MC, but I have never looked at MC. In LE, open the model and then double click on the first node (0.root). You will see texture lists and options.
-
No I checked this, fuel tank texture is on fuel tank object itself.
But I think adding an extra dummy texture set to the Tornado (so set will become 3rd will also probably work as workaround) Then I could use set 3 (in cam in MC) which probably then uses set 1 of fueltank again.
Bit of ugly overkill but would probably do the trick.Cheers Obi1
