Last chance to my poor Cougar
-
Hi All,
After a couple of years i am returning to BMS with this new versione 4.35. I had an old Cougar that unfortunately has some issues on the specific to the Microstick / radar cursor.
In a few words, i configured Cougar control panel and when i open BMS on the Avionics Control on the Cursor X i see:
- Keyboard
- Antenna
- Range
- Mouse
Stop….i don’t see the Cursor X and Y related to the microstick.
Any idea?
Thanks

Have you tried re-calibrating? Is axis emulation on? Have you tried the old “retrieve / apply” dance?
All the best, Uwe

HI Hoover,
re calibrating i tried but i have a problem on range and antenna (value mismatch with minimum value with error message) so i cant complete the process. I trying to exclude Antenna and Range but i do not understant how to do this so i could complete calibration process.
I try ON emulation. Green botton.
A put check on the apply button, and Toe brake left and right appears on the combo in the avionics control (?) even if i have not toe break connected.
what a mess.

I solved with the fantasy.
First i exclude the antenna and the range (broken…) putting the on axies 9 and 10 and with locker red. I put Microstick X on the axis 4 instead of Antenna and Microstick Y on the channel 5 instead of Range knob.
Emulation OFF so read botton.
In the combo box i saw alway antenna and range. But this stime selecting these and moving microstick all works.
I don’t know why.
Just lucky. i take cougar.

Cougar supports up to 8 axis, with rudders pedals with toe brakes attached to cougar you’ve got 10 axis, so two have to be disabled (assigned as 9th and 10 axis). If ant pot gives you problem disabling it is good workaround, then you might look for faulty pot replacement, while enjoying flying in BMS.

Yep, the axis naming doesn’t really matter, the only thing that’s important is that you map the correct axis in-game to move the cursors (even if it’s called “toebrake” or some other non-sensical name :))
As for calibration it took me a while too to re-calibrate my cougar successfully, but that was a few years ago when I switched to the warthog.
All the best,
Uwe
