Attaching multiple keyboards - key binding
-
Hey, guys!
Is it possible to attach multiple keyboards and have different key bindings on them? For example, on one keyboard, " G " activates the gears, and on another keyboard," G " does something else?
Thank you for your help!My idea is to use multiple keyboards for each button in the plane without touching shift alt ctrl (I want to be able to access any button with just one hand)

short answer:
no…Not possible… A keyboard isn’t a game controller…

Sorry Max not competely with you on that point.
It doesn’t work out of the box but with software inbetween i could be achived as basically you could make the single keystroke on a secondary keyboard beeing intercepted and produce a macro. Some of my friends working in TV and Movie industry using multiple keyboard on one machine in that way

You’re forgetting something: complexity
If @Nanachi is asking, I don’t think he is an IT expert (no offense). So solution needs to be simple

Now I am trying to do it with HID macros. It can interpolate key input from different keyboards to different key-combinations! So my idea is to bind BMS input layout for almost every button in plane with combination of shift alt control in any order but expect without them. Then i would attach those combinations to all buttons on my 4 keyboards. That whould allow me to use almost any system in plane without touching the mouse!
Firstly I tried LUA Macros, but it uses WINAPI sendinput without DX keys support, so BMS just doesn’t recognize those type of input. I tried to use Interception libraries, but for some reasons it didn’t work on my system (or I just hand-messed :D)

Thanks, oakdesign! I would try it later
P.S.
Also I use second monitor with YAME and RTT for MFDs and so one (thanks to last udate…)) In future I want to build realistick-like cockpit, but now i don’t have enough time for itThanks for your replies!

For sake of not touching the mouse, it’s definitely commendable, but moreso if you make those keyboards into de facto button boxes with little labels over the keys. If you had to memorize a whack-ton of new keyboard key combos, that would almost be going backwards compared to the simplicity of mouse-clicking something in the cockpit.
I know people who are into video and music production that use multiple keyboards (and custom macros) in this way - even saw one of the editors on Linus Tech Tips doing something like that (the guy with the thick rectangular glasses and moustache). This would be pretty cool if done well! Best wishes and good luck to you!

Nanachi,
Display extraction seems somewhat a WIP at present, and BTW the MFDE does still work in 4.35. Also, I’m with Semler about not giving up on the mouse. I may seem strange to you at present, but it definately grows on you. In fact, try putting the mouse beside the throttle and click left handed. -
Yes, I would glue to every button lable box according to it action. I will be done with it in this week, I guess… so I will send a photo here and my conclusion about this work
