Ice’s Falcon BMS Profile Updated for BMS 4.37
-
You need to update to 1.6.3504.01 as the BMS interface to read string data for NavPoints is added in the latest version not included in 1.6.3504.0

Version 1.6.3504.01 isn’t necessary, the profile works fine with the 1.6.3504.00 included with the download.

@nik:
What am I doing wrong.
Helios version is 1.6.3504.0000i have no waypoints in CPD.
Otherwise I’m very enthusiastic about the new version. Thank you
greetings
Nik
Check out @wheelchocks advice in the previous post and if that doesn’t work then download the profile again and replace the “UpdatePathNames.exe” and the “Ice’s Falcon BMS 4.35.hpf” profile file itself. Nothing else was changed.
I made a small correction on 20-03-2021 which didn’t justify a new version. If you downloaded after this date then you have the current version and no need to download again.
Just to reiterate:
1. Save the Briefing (by selecting Print)
2. Save the DTC
3. Reset the Helios profileLet me know if you are still having the issue and we can investigate further.

This is incorrect. String data has not been added to Helios. You may be looking at the history which might contain a branch where work was done to implement it but its not in a workable state

Sorry, the mistake was between my ears. Wrong order.

Thanks again for the hint and your work, it’s a brilliant program. I am very happy about it.Greetings

Hello,
is it right that the switches and knobs from helios are not in the same position as in BMS at the beginning?
What can i do to synchronize the switches and knobs? Thanks!

VolkerHave you selected the correct mode from Ramp/Hot/Air Start on the System Menu? That should set them all correctly, unless I’ve missed the odd one or two.

Which System menu do you mean?

The menu that opens when you select the button marked “System” on the profile front console - lower right.

Hi Ice, thanks for this, it’s an amazing piece of work.
I am hoping you can help me out. I’m not extracting data, gauges, displays from BMS to the Helios console. I am running Helios on the computer with Falcon BMS installed, Have the Key receiver running as well, and am using Helios from a laptop touchscreen. The inputs are working fine controlling Falcon BMS, Helios on the local computer gets all the data, gauges, and displays with no problem. Just don’t show on the remote computer. Same network, fixed IP addresses, RTT_textures set to 1, just seems I am missing something basic in the setup. If you could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. I’ve looked everywhere I can think of but can’t find any documentation on setting up helios to run across a network. Thanks,

I believe you might need something like this shared memory mirror from your main BMS PC to the laptop network location:
Desktop client-server application that mirrors the contents of Falcon’s shared memory areas to one or more remote networked PCs.
https://github.com/lightningviper/lightningstoolsBy the way, not a problem, but Ice left the forum quite some time ago.;)

Save the Briefing and DTC after any mission changes to ensure that the data is up to date.
Just curious…In BMS’ configuration there’s an option for generating Briefings with HTML tags. Does it matter how Briefings are generated?? Or shall Briefings output be in basic text format??
Thanks,
Jolly

So, related to the question I posed in the post above, during a mission I was about to fly I clicked on the “Print” icon in the briefing screen and the game froze. Fortunately it did not CTD, but I did notice the following error message…

…any thoughts as to what this error is? (If the above image isn’t visible the try this LINK).
Cheers,

Thanks,
JollyThe profile parses the briefing.txt file for the information it generates, if it is saved as an HTML file then the file just won’t be found and no information will be generated.
See this paragraph in the Setup Guide:;)Helios Profile Guide
1. To update the briefing information in the Centre Panel Display select “PRINT” from the Falcon BMS mission briefing page. The Centre Panel Display will automatically update to reflect the new mission data. Note: The briefing file must be saved as a text file which is the Falcon BMS default setting. -

Cheers,
JollyThanks for the information.
The profile only reads the briefing file so shouldn’t have caused the game to freeze. Sounds more like BMS crashed first and generated a badly formatted briefing file or more likely a zero bytes briefing file.
Nevertheless the DataAutoUpdate.exe shouldn’t have generated an error for that condition and the corrected version will be included in the next update.

And Thanks, I just performed the same action and I didn’t get the same results…But the flight plan was not updated when I got in the jet. :-? …I’ll return to the manual to see where I may have gone wrong.
Cheers,
JollyUPDATE: AH! I may have discovered my particular issue! In the Configuration, I have “Append New Briefings” checked, and thus the current briefing is placed at the end of the text file, and of course the Kneeboard file picks the first briefing of the list. I did not notice this mentioned in the manual so anyone who is having this issue check your “Configurator”. I do believe this option is “off” by default, so this is on me.

Dear Linknet,
Thanks for the 4th update!
The only problem I have is that the Map in the CPD does not change when I change to another theater.
I tried with Balkans and still see the Korea map in the CPD.
The file “Pathnames.ini” seems ok.; Edit the Falcon BMS command line parameters if required.
; All the other settings will automatically update.; Current Falcon BMS Path.
[FALCON_BMS_PATH]
Path = “C:\Falcon BMS 4.35”
Parameters = “-ef”; Current Falcon BMS Theater.
[CURRENT_THEATER]
Theater = “Balkans”; Current Map Folder.
[MAP_FOLDER]
MapFolder = “Balkans”; Current Map Segment Size.
[MAP_SEGMENT_SIZE]
MapSegmentSize = “64”; Current Pilot Callsign.
[PILOT_CALLSIGN]
Callsign = “Falcon316”Do I have to change it manually?

No, but you need to perform a Helios profile Reset either from the profile System Menu or from the Control Center after changing the theatre to reload the CPD maps.
If you wait after changing the theatre until you have loaded a new mission and then saved the Briefing and DTC then one Reset does everything which is the way I envisaged it to work.
Check in the folder “Helios\Images\FalconBMS Images 4.35\CPD\Map”, this should contain the correct Map.jpg after a theatre change.

Ice’s Falcon BMS Profile Updated to 4.35-5
Updated 09 April 2021:
The first post has been updated with the latest version.
I think that’s probably the final update with respect to feature updates but of course I’ll still fix any bugs that may, or hopefully may not, arise.
