Update on 4.35 U2
-
Hi Sasah, thanks for the kind words. Good that mentioned this… I am not happy by this delay, as you know all too well, since this is preventing me from flying with you guys from my own timezone and language (and sense of humour ).
Regarding the issues, not sure how familiar people are with software development. You know, Falcon is not a big company with all infrastructure support. We host our own servers, people are paying to have this up and working for free to have this up for us. We don’t have quality engineers online all the time, alerts, automated tests etc. So this makes things a lot harder.
I spent 22 days with one of our testers chasing a bug that happened only on his machine. We exchanged more than 50GB of dmp files. I also spent 8 days trying to understand why the pure virtual fix was causing the new bug I mentioned on my previous post. And believe me, I have a lot of software experience in my career, those were really TOUGH bugs. When I say days, I literally mean that, from the moment I woke up, during the day when I had some breaks from work, through the night until I slept. Add to that 8 hours of real life work and 2 kids, you may begin to understand how passion drives us.
So, for whomever wanted some background of what went behind the scenes, this is a small taste. And notice I am only talking about myself. Other coders are more low profile than I am but you can be damn sure they had similar experiences.
well imagine doing that during 15 years already

That’s why you guys deserve our appreciations! Thank you is not enough, but it is what I am able to give you now.
Thank you all of you :yo:

in the meantime you can sweeten the wait by watching this
Thanks to all involved

Our thanks for the work Seifer:
Thank you and everyone involved.:p -
Oops, Great Seifer, thanks for the feedback and also for the great work you and everyone in the development part of the BMS.
Success always. -
Thank you for ll you have done and continue to do for us, the BMSers. Without you this would be a “remember BMS Falcon and how involved it was to run a campaign.”. you deserve nothing less than our complete gratitude for what all of you do for this Sim in your “spare time”. What is spare time?. I never had it when I worked and raised kids. again, Thank you!

Well I
ll wait for U2 to drop when the Devs are ready. I like to thank all Devs for their hardwork and patience (again),also after a recent lengthy stay in the hospital I like to particularly thank a Unsung Dev whom writes our excellent manuals don
t get me wrong the SIM is a work of beauty but the DOCs add that special fighter pilot feeling from the way they are written to the shear technical info contained within. i spend probably more reading manuals than playing the sim especially of recent as not like i can take a full hotas, Pc and screen into the Hospital -

Guys the work and effort even as detailed as guys said it, was phenomenal. Not just now, this is the norm.
Test exe’s where pouring like rain.
Tests where made 24/7 non stop.
The GB’s transferred where enormous, we even had to clear up HDD space for dmp files.
This doesn’t mean lots of things where broken, no, but every tiny detail that we could spot or suspect was put under the microscope.
Put on top and parallel, education and coordination of the testers to get the best way and tools working so to spot even more might be issues.Seifer and coders where available and working like having 8 hands around the clock and when not coding they where also testing.
All those with focus on stability.
So don’t ask to put the finger on the wound. The team IS doing it’s best as u know it. Just trust it and believe it as u already do and we’ll have a great time as we already do.
They r not God’s , they are just plain ppl like you and me with dedication to what they do. They get inspirited by you and they inspire you.
We’re all together in this.

A few months ago, some strange lighting issues were seen when flying in clouds, such as in the ILS Weather training mission. Here are some places where these issues were mentioned:
Does anyone know if this is likely to be fixed in a 4.35 update, such as U2?

I’d wish to get the MP more ‘refined’ a bit… I’m not suggesting here it’s currently behaving bad.
It’s only that also today I’m having a little bad sensation that some weird fluctuations (can’t define better now, sorry) when running couldn’t be imputed to my line current conditions only.
It’s only a sensation, I repeat, and not a suspect. But the same it’s still… call it sixth or seventh sense or anyway you like more. That’s it.However.
Most important, now: a great “Thank you!” to all the dev. team individually and as a team too for all what they did until now, they’re currently doing… and they are thinking to do in future as well, taking a well deserved vacation time at its first place. With best regards.

Concerning U2 and its changelog.
I launched BMS a couple times since March. I think I had never stayed away that long. And while I seated in boredom in front of my screen, all I wanted to was open a 2D map and think of a mission.
Apart from stability, there are in this changelog corrections and improvements that I’ve been waiting for, yeah, years.Everyone’s talking about terrain and visuals, but this is to me the most important update you did in my BMS life. Doing better will be complicated, even with fs2020 graphics.
Now I guess I’ll have some work to do, if you’ll let me :).

So when is U3? hahaha

Thanks for releasing U2 today, it’s much appreciated. I really enjoy the open communication here about updates and I think you’re doing a stellar “PR” job with a quite prickly community, so hats off to you and all the devteam members who are trying to keep us up to date! :bowd:

Thanks for Update and everything BMS Team…
