4.35 U3 Rants, feedback, comments

@Seifer Update works flawless, (as usual) and so far everything works well.
Really like the new colors
From my side a big THANK YOU to the entire BMS-Team for what you are doing over all theese years for this crazy bunch of flightsimmers.ahhh… by the way… i´m missing (or cant find) the “Like” or “Thanks” feature at the new forum

Do you need a red light as well on your computer?
I’m more of a blue guy
On the serious side, I’m not a huge topic starter. I look what’s out there and I comment if I have something constructive to add. There’s only 1 official U3 post, which people cant comment on. If the launch news was more subdued that usually (which I also found odd), maybe starting a U3 topic under General would help get the comments flowing.

We get to like and dislike comments now. They are the up and down arrows/carrots to the lower right of each post.

I have been on a break of simming (not by choice) because of time constraints (becoming a father and loving it), will happily test it out as soon as I can get a chance. Along with my PC upgrade and new stick and such I just haven’t been able to configure it yet as well sigh. Time is such a bitch…

@zeus_
Got it -
No issues so far…
And thx again to all the devs and community for keeping my fave combat sim in peak condition.

I think the Monday release announcement, combined with forum move, is the reason for the quietness. (I think U3 wasn’t mentioned on Reddit until ~Tuesday.)
Also, we are all probably busy regression-testing our personal list of bug reports… lol

Hi all. U3 installed yesterday, Installed Balkans for U3 too and made a short flight test (Campaign Ramp and 10 mins flight).
No issues here, anyway I will make more extensive tests during this weekend.Keep you updated!

First of all,
Thank you for U3 and all hard work done so far.
I like the new colors,
It looks like that the clouds are fading to soon (just before entering into them) and thus I miss the sence of speed.
and definetely i dont want my CTDs back -
I’m not a big topic starter either - but so far I’ll mention that a TE I’m working on where this happens:
https://forum.falcon-bms.com/topic/21253/why-is-this-crazy-friendly-ship-barrage-happening-right-when-i-jump-into-the-te?_=1634740793858
and I thought I read in the changelog for U3 that this would be fixed - well it’s still happening. Also jumped into a TE where there’s a lot of landing aircraft right as I’m holding short, and these AC suddenly have major problems keeping formation and doing an overhead. Maybe this is all just because the TEs were created in U2 and not U3?The visual changes are fantastic.

@seifer Dear Sir salute to you and your dedication…
honestly it is a very bold step and requires hell lot of courage to open yourself for unknown. despite knowing anything can come up and still openly asking is really remarkable. this indeed makes most of us feel that future of our beloved sim is in safe hands…
coming to the point…
as a chronic SP my only frustration is that in recent past most updates covered stability for MP community which is totally understandable but many of us like me are still comfortable in their own tiny SP world. and what I felt is that SP community is a little bit neglected…there is absolutely nothing wrong with U3. indeed this update has promised BMS community and shown a glimpse to future… but I think that cockpit ambiance may please be looked into and other cosmetics may please be done once and for all. for e.g. turn coordinator not working, still some knobs in cockpit not usable, cockpit night lights. spot light wear and tear of buttons etc. -
@seifer
I have only been playing BMS for about a month. I love it and have been totally obsessed! So incredible to get to play falcon 4 after all these years!
As for this update I don’t have huge expectations I guess since I only recently started playing and am still amazed at the modernization of falcon 4! I only did one mission last night and it went without issue. Thats about all I can say at this point but definitely keep it up! I love this sim! -
@seifer We believe that several new pieces of news were gathered in a very short time and the community is still digesting them, it is like a child with a new toy and does not know which one to play with. We must wait a little longer to have a correct comment on the forum itself and in the case of the U3, we believe that it is quite well polished and well worked, bugs will always exist, each system of our personal computers makes an infinite variety of configurations where our simulator has to run, so for a community of enthusiasts who with pure heart and investing time and dedication many times family time out some bugs, in our opinion it is more than justified and it will never be little to reaffirm how grateful we are our Virtual Combat Wing in this magnificent gem of programming and simulation.
Greetings

The lighting looks bright and juicy, I personally really like it. Thanks to the developers.
-
@spbgoro glad you liked!
-
@viper-0 Thanks for the kind words, hope you enjoy U3
-
@obi1 I cannot see your sig here, can you post system specs? Falcon is still heavily CPU driven, and that is the part we optimized most. But I need to understand what kind of system you have so I can try to mimic with testers.

I am wondering about the weather and clouds, specifically in situations like the ILS_Weather training mission.
I forget when it started, perhaps it was when 4.35 was first released, but there were strange issues with the ground appearing through the clouds. Also some strange flickering.
In the release notes for 4.35 U3, there is a mention of some of this (or at least issues that sound like this) being fixed.
I hadn’t flown the ILS_Weather mission in a long time, but I gave it a shot last night, after installing U3. I think the problem of the runway lights being visible through the low clouds (on final approach) has been fixed. But the other issues, at higher altitudes, still seem to be present. Odd visibility of ridgelines, buildings, windmills being partially visible through the clouds.
I recorded my training mission, here’s a point where some of this is visible:
There are a few other points in that video where I go heads-up and this graphical behavior can be seen.
I was a little surprised that this was still occurring, although maybe the release notes only referred to the issues with the runway lights on final. Maybe these other graphical oddities are a different issue that will be sorted out later.

@zeus_ I actually heard comments like: what, U3 was launched? 3 times already. So yes, maybe we can do something about this.

@wurminatorza kids are the best, here is my daughter beta testing U3
